It just came to me that "I'll fly for you" means a lot more than just that, flying for a fairy that lives in bourge means either death or jail if she's seen doing it, so in that sense it means "I'll give everything for you, even my life" and for Philo this is even more true since his mother basically risked her life every time she went out only to see him sleep and sing to him
I also felt that there was maybe some feelings of guilt where he had his wings taken away (we don't know who asked the doctor to do that exactly? even though they say that his wings were probably not strong enough to use) and so even if he cannot, she'll 'fly for him'. It's amazing how many emotions it feels like it conveys: loss, love, perhaps guilt and a little ray of hope all of which she had to keep secret, bottled up, to keep him safe.
Every time I hear this song it make me cry, because through this song we learn how much his mother loved him. I just wish he got to actually meet her when she was alive
I’m sorry for ur lost, but always remember the good times you had with her and know that she is never gone as long as you have those memories. We will see our loved ones again just when our time comes as well
It's heartbreaking too once you realise that his mother literally ran into Vignette hours before her death on the Row. Neither of them knowing who each other were, yet had Philo as their common connection. The two women who loved him the most did infact cross paths, even if it was just for a faction of a second its was poignant.
The series is amazing. The world building is the best since GoT. Now if you excuse me. Something must have fallen into my eye. No. I’m not crying you are crying!
True thing. I can only recommend the show and I'm very skeptical. The atmosphere is great and the show is very diverse not only focusing on one character. Cara s acting could be bit better at some points but still great show 8/10
this world suffers just like GoT from the lack of wonder and magic.....GoT succeeded for its story and plots not the actual world....Westeros and Essos were boring by themselves
@@Orholam5 well considering that this is the first season with only 8 episodes I wouldn't say there is a lack of wonders and magic but a good amount that explains everything you need to know and still remain a mystery as a whole with several faction and races. In the series, it wasn't that long ago that the humans even discovered the Fae as a race, so everything is still pretty 'new' for everyone. And compared to GoT, it think Carnival Row does a better job to succeed in illustrating our actual world in this fantasy world with the history of colonial empires but as well as the current crisis of mass refugee migrations with the demographic changes and political shifts to the right wings. All that in just 1 season with well established characters ? I'd say they did a dam pretty good job.
RFW lack of magic is what made game of thrones unique. It kept magic mysterious and rare. Otherwise it’s just another fantasy show. Less magic is better in these type of shows tbh.
@@AngelXO96 there will be enough series soon with magic. Also we have a lot of magical/mythical beings in this show. I liked the show and i will watch it again later.
The first couple of episodes were kind of boring, but I kept watching because I'm real into fantasy stuff like lord of the rings, everquest, game of thrones, etc. It just kept getting better. I kept hoping things would happen, then they'd happen. Like when they did the flashbacks of the war and the 2 main characters (i'm bad with names) met and all that, I was really hoping they'd show that. I wanted to see their backstory, how they met, and also was hoping for a good sex scene as well. They didn't disappoint on ANY of this. Then I was like "damn this show would be 10x better if orlando's character was a fae. Then it turns out he was half fae! Then finding his mom, and this song...it was all just so powerful. My mom is about to turn 80 and I'm always thankful to have had her around so long. A true gift. I also always obsessed over flying. So for him to have his mom flying over singing, but he never got to meet her, and his wings were clipped so he never got to fly...this was just so sad to me. Now I'm on episode 6 and just absolutely hooked. I think it would be funny to see the rich girl fall for the rich guy with the horns. Would also be amazing if in a later season or something the main guy gets a wing transplant or something and chooses fae rather than humans (people suck) but I doubt that'll happen lol. IDK if anyone actually will read this but it felt good writing about it because a lot of it is stuff I don't really talk to people about.
The moment when this song kicks in, while Philo just sits there, realizing what his life truly is... I was completely drawn into the series at that point. Such a beautiful moment. I was speechless. Amazon created something magical with this series, and it just makes me even more excited for their Lotr series. We are in for something big here
I just saw something that I never would have thought of before seeing the whole show. I like how the steelwork is coming out of Philo’s back like his missing wings. Kind of like they are the same, but from two different worlds.
I hope Patty Gurdy is going to play it live sometime. 😊 She's such a lovely person and to make it better cares deeply about all animals as a vegan. Her debut album Pest & Power came out yesterday 😊
@@HaruhiDream5339 Im sorry , but in Black Sails they casted quite some bad actors ,i couldnt care less about their character because of that , i cant watch it more then a few episodes . People who love Carnival Row should check out Altered Carbon !
Am 34 years old, grown ass man, but lost my mother in 2018 July suddenly, which is the rudest shock I ever had in my life. And this songs makes me cry, and I feel my mum comes by every time am having a hard time sleeping and sing this for me ❤️😢 I miss her so much. A real man needs his mother, no matter what ❤️❤️
My grandad passed away 3 days ago I've been watching the show and this song and he lives in you by lebo m is helping my grief. So sorry about your mother passing buddy she's always in your heart and mind. ✌💙
This song is so beautiful but God damn that moment when Philo found out everything...those flash backs...broke my heart with this song in the background. It takes a lot to hit me in the feels but this show...this masterpiece...broke me. Season 2 can't come sooner.
Haunting as it gets while being so beautiful and the perfect theme to the Best show since Got, that was my instant thought when i saw it infact i subscribed to that amazonian leviathen just for making a move on this show, well deserved.
When my little budgie died i started to listening this. He was my best friend and he was like son to me after 4 years i lost him now i realise now ill fly for him ill live for him i will always gonna fly for him thats why this song is hurting me and its making me remember my son... my child my only one.
Discovered this show a week ago. Beautiful story. Fantasy in a Victorian setting that deals with racism and revolution. I would have loved 10 more season of this. As usual the good shows are axed way before their time.
She flies for him because he doesn't have wings. Philo's story is really powerful... flying means risking to die and she was ready to die for him. She really loved him and without even really knowing her, you can see that he loves her inconditionaly. I cried so many times during so many scenes but the milent he realizes she was her mother I even screamed...Carnival Row is really something
I think I’ll remember the exact moment I heard this while watching and thinking “wow” it’s so haunting, captivating, and flat out beautiful. I almost cried. Truly, an amazing sound/song
so just recently discovered the amazing sound of the hurdy gurdy.... and its IN THIS SHOW and it makes me so happy..... okay so... apparently it IS Patty Gurdy singing and playing her hurdy gurdy and this is the most amazing incident.....
I just liked the music. And then I saw the other comments and realized that there was so much more to it that I was missing. Thank you everybody. That analysis was beautiful
C'est la chanson la plus émouvante que j'ai jamais écoutée ... j'en ai pleuré 😭😭Pauvre Philo, il n'a jamais connu sa mère, et la seule fois qu'il l'a vue elle était morte ...
that simple phrase “I’ll fly for you” means so much in that song and if you watched the show you’d understand that. this song really is an emotional one and it doesn’t even have that many words
After listening this song, tears began to flow down my eyes........everytime when I'll listen this song, I cry.......too much heart piercing lines......loved it
Just binged S 1 and this is by far the worthiest successor of GoT! By far! I can't wait for at least 2nd, 3rd, 4th Season. This Song is amazing and made me cry. We need an official Soundtrack too! Hurry up Amazon 😉
I am a 37 years old guy living and working in another country. I started to watch the tv show like 2 months ago andbI really liked it. whenever I listen this song, it brings a tear to a 37 years old guy's eyes maybe just bcs of my mother was taken to the hospital 2 months ago and she still receives her treatment for her diseaae and I cannot go back and "fly for her" at the moment bcs of the god damn covid-19
I think it's no coincidence how the buildings in the background are arranged on the movie poster. It looks like Rycroft (Orlando Bloom) has wings, similar to Vignette.
If I never saw the show or knew what it was about this song would make me think about faeries or some other fantasy creature...just reminds me of much of back in the day when I played everquest and eq2. Just really has that fantasy feel to it.
I have a 5 week old daughter and I have trouble getting her to sleep. Watch this for the first time over the weekend and she loves listening to the music to fall asleep to.
La compositrice e cantante è Patty Gurdy, lei ha pubblicato una versione più lunga con video. Ho scoperto la serie grazie a lei dato che già la seguivo. Ho appena finito la seconda stagione, peccato che non sia bella come la prima.
Bu şarkıda kalbimi bıraktım I left my heart in this song I'll fly for you My child my son Sweet dreams to you My only one Senin için uçacağım Çocuğum, oğlum. İyi uykular (rüyalar) Benin Birtanem
@@Nyx_FallagaTn well nowhere on patties website or Google does it say she has anything to do with this TV show, just people commenting on RU-vid that is her. I've listened to her music and the voice doesn't match up. Just that she plays a hurdy gurdy, but a lot of people play this instrument. The lady I mentioned sings the into and fuel for fire, which was written in 2013 and you can find on RU-vid.
This show is fucking amazing. Just thought I’d leave this here. Best thing since GOT and I’m certain this will get the respect it deserves till the last episode.
The song is amazing, on i hear this in serie i come obssesed with this, is amazing, the armonichal voice, the instrumental base and finally the message of this song is amazing, thanks for the creators of this series
My son was just a few days old when this show came out. My wife and I were watching this when the song starting playing in this scene. I just broke down with my new born son in my arms. This was my son for him. My wife's is Red is the rose an old Irish song.
