at the Least teacher should have sent a letter beforehand about the plan. what you did is common practice

Uhhhhh so first off no you ain't the ah but wtf I get it some kids can't afford stuff but u paid for those things they can't just take em without asking

The only time supplies are supposed to given to the teach for distribution is if it says next to the item that it’ll be distributed. That was usually only glue, paper, and rubber bands. Teacher thief. That’s a new one for the bingo card.

Not the bad guy me and my mom literally still do this to all my stuff and I’m already in high school she tells me every year she buys school supplies for me not for every other kid in the classroom and it’s not our job to take care of other people’s kids

They should have asked parent to buy one or two extras for the less fortunate not take what you bought for your daughter

The things you’ve bought for your daughter is hers. The school can’t steal your stuff and give to others.

Just explain to her that oh, maybe I bought this for MY child. Not the school who can’t even supply stuff for a program THEY started

My parents would do this cuz they had alot of teachers would do this same thing. They'd make parents spend hundreds of dollars on "required" supplies only to take almost everything and through it into a communal box. When asked why doesn't the school pay for supplies, they'd say "we dont have the budget" oh, yea. But you have the budget to install a rock climbing wall that only 1 of the 6 grades can use and only for the 1 week lesson IF they get around to it? You have the budget to buy the football team new uniforms EVERY YEAR? You have the budget to build a swimming pool in the school that none of the students can use because they have to be over 16? You have the budget to make a new, state of the art teachers lounge? You have the budget for ALL of that, but are so short on money that the parents (all of who are lower income) HAVE to buy a 64pack of SPECIFICALLY Crayola crayons that would then get thrown in a giant box of crayons for everyone to use? Yeah. Needless to say until I hit highschool, my family would piss the school off because every pencil, crayon, and gluestick had our names written in giant letters. And if we came home at the end of the year missing supplies and not having a reason behind it, my parent sent a bill to the school to be compensated for stolen property. Teacher once went to take my crayons to refill the class box and told me to not tell my parents. I told her lying is bad. She tried to say it's not lying if they don't ask. I told her we'll se about that. The next day my parents camr in and chewed her out. The following week she gave me a new box of crayons with my name written on them and apologized for trying to make me be bad. Other parents started to don't too and soon the school backed off on what they required for supplies.

Yeah my daughters sibling went to a different school and was raised by the grandmother and she found out just 3 months later school was asking for some more school supplies she was like how can that be I bought a Year's worth of school supplies for my child and the school teacher said we use all the school supplies for all the kids in case some of the kids can't afford. So I have to spend all my money but other parents don't spend no money how is that fair

Then they should have said to buy some extra supplies for children who can't afford it. Othervise this would be theft, if they took what YOU bought without asking

My partner works at a school where no children buy school supplies. The school fees include a levy for supplies. The teachers buy what the class needs, and the supplies are communal. My partner earned the nickname "dragon lady" because of how fiercly she hoards and protects her share of the supplies. This is because if it runs out, the teacher will have to pay in their own money to get more, or the class goes without.

I had this issue when I put my 4 in public school when I broke my back. I'm not buying supplies for all the other kids. I'm already the low income solo mom doing her best with 4 kids. I can't take on more kids. Thankfully, mine are happily back to being homeschooled.

In my elementary school in Germany 1-4th grade they requier the full name on ecery Ithem even the eraser. We also has to bring our own wathercolors and paintprushes in a box. The only stuff the school provides was books and colored paper ezt. I'm in elevent grad now, we only have to bring some pens, pencils and colored pencils. The school provides tablets, books and art suplies most students bring there own paint brushes thou because there are only few that are still good, most students don't clean them well. It's a "Technisches Gymnasium" (Technical College) (Grade 11-13) my mane cours is "Desing and Mediatechnic"

Shame the school for expecting you to buy supplies for the other children when you already pay her fees.

It should be optionan to have supplies split. If not every parent need shared supplies then they should be allowed to buy their own.school supplies are fun to shop for when youre little and its nice to have your own things

It would be different if it was donated supplies, but that is *your* stuff.

Not sure if they still do this but when I was in elementary school, our teachers would request the parents to help out on school supplies. Tissues, markers, pencils, crayons, etc. it was all a group effort. For personal items, of course you could write your name on it

Plus if you want all the kids to share the school supplies you need to inform the parents and ask them

Let me get this right. This woman bought supplies for her daughter, with her own money, and the school complained that she wrote her daughters name on said supplies because the claim that they “couldn’t afford to provide for all the children’s supplies” and planned to make everyone share? The school wasn’t providing for her! They didn’t pay for those supplies so they have no reason to touch them or even claim that. They just wanted to steal from the children and parents and pretend they were the ones providing
