Also I do agree that having a kid so young can completely destroy one's life (or slow it down considerably). If the bf do come around, great but it's very unlikely. Her father knows that since the guy had intercourse with his daughter that means that he's obligated to care for the baby if either one of them refused to make an abortion wich by itself is a debatable issue... But the guy doesn't have a choice, she's not the only one who made the mistake... The father of the baby should take responsibility and try with her... He made his daughter feel abandoned while pregnant and that she's all alone just to force her to abort her child/ give them to be adopted... His opinion it's neither right nor wrong... But he shouldn't try to force it like that on her!
Teenagers do make mistakes but having a child at 16 is an awful idea, not only are you still likely in school but you probably have no or next to no money AND you aren't fully mature as a person yet. The teens dad never said she was on her own, he even said he and the teen's mom would be there for her, just that she would have to do most of it, as a parent should. If she can't take care of her baby without significant help from her parents she shouldn't have a child to begin with. And while yes the dad is sort of trying to get the daughter to abort or adopt out the child, its probably whats best for the teenager. Her father saying he is obligated to care for the baby if born is plain wrong and was never actually said. He does have a choice of whether or not he is in the kids life. If he's not he will just have to pay child support. Yes, kids have better childhoods with 2 parents, but if both are constantly fighting with each other because they were forced to stay as a couple when they don't love each other, or if they had split custody and either parent constantly badmouths the other, that child will grow up miserable. That's not the way, my father used to use this pressure on us and it was a horrible experience like a psychological abuse... Her hormones at that age aren't stable so are her emotions not to mention pregnancy, at that time she doesn't need a firm father, she needs a loving considerate father that advises her and guides her calmly and lovingly... I'm speaking out of experience.. not the same situation but the father reminds me of mine and how he used to pressure us to do what he thinks is best for us rather than expressing love and support and nurturing guidance..
The fuck? The system can absolutely force her boyfriend to give child support and should if that baby is born. He consented to sex which means he knew the ramifications just as well as she did.
