AIWA EXOS 9 REVIEW 

I’m just sort of curious where did you get yours because I’ve looked on Amazon and I can’t find them. Then again I found them on eBay but they were wanting $360 for one. Do you have to go to the website?

Oh I love it so much I want another unfortunately you can’t get another one at retail price it’s all people selling them at ridiculous prices like $600

Aiwa has made great boomboxes since at least the early 80's. If you purchased it, you spent money wisely.😊

Yeah I grew up with some of their OG boomboxes with the CD and Cassette.

Yes I love my exos 9 so much I added a set of multi colored vu meters on top as well as music sync rgb lights around the speakers. It’s now only missing the cd and cassette. I sure hope they make a exos 10 with at least a cd player and hopefully one where you can see it spinning

From what I understand aiwa was its own company out of Japan back in the 1980s. then some time around the late 90s early 2000’s they were taken over by Sony. Sony eventually dropped the AWA brand, and the company ceased to exist. More recently someone out of Chicago restarted the company and brand name. Although the quality will never be that of the 1980s because everything nowadays is junk it does stack up very well against modern brands like Sony pioneer, etc.. just took a look at that boom box you mentioned, and it looks like it would compete more with something like the Anker sound core rather than the exos9

Yeah but there are plenty of more portable water resistant options out there. This speaker is aimed more at the home audio listener who wants high quality audio that they can move around the home. Rugged outdoor is not the audience it’s targeting.

@@oVoKINGspade build quality and physical buttons could be some improvements but for the price it’s great. If I could do a redesign I would make all controls physical not touch sensitive. I would add a high end cassette deck and a vertical load cd where you could see it spin. I would then add vu meters and rgb lights that were wifi and had music sync. Oh wait I already did part of that 😱

I want an Aiwa exos 10 and it must indclude a sturdy boombox folding handle cd player where you can see it spin and rgb music sync lights around the speakers. Oh and a good quality cassette deck would be a good addition. Oh wait I already built one called the aiwa exos diy😂😂😂

Unfortunately I wasn’t able to add cassette or cd function but I did add rgb music sync leds and a sturdy stainless steel handle and it’s amazing.

Do you mean you wish it had Bluetooth speaker functionality in it or something more like an Alexa virtual assistant?

@TiltedTripodMedia No. When my phone rings, I have to use another speaker that is phone compatible. I am hard of hearing.

@@thatbeme oh I just didn’t see much since in a speaker this big designed for serious audio quality and music should have speaker phone. A smaller more portable speaker would make sense

Yeah I tried getting a second one but couldn’t. Not to be a bummer but electronics just sitting in a box can degrade over time. I’ve had experience unboxing new old stock boomboxes with failing capacitors bad cassette belts etc.

I’ve personally never owned a diamondboxx but I’ve seen it reviewed many times. Well it depends on which one your looking at. Personally I think the dimindboxx is way over priced now throw in some rgb leds high quality cassette deck cd and an analog tuner and then I’d pay the price. I’ve heard many high end Bluetooth speakers and nothing is going to sound as good as the exos 9 especially for the money. With the ability to pair 2 of them for better stereo separation and a removable replaceable battery you can’t go wrong. Oh and the exos 9 is pretty easy to mod. I took mine apart and added some rgb Wi-Fi lights around each speaker driver and a sturdy boombox handle on top. Now it’s a true boombox. If only it had cd cassette and radio one can dream. I’m thinking of making a video showing the mods I did in the future. So yeah for now my recommendation will be the exos 9 until something better at that price point comes out or a true 80s high quality boombox returns. Sad thing is I believe getting an exos 9 will be a challenge or cost $$$ seems aiwa is having stocking issues last I checked. I got mine for $300 but I’ve seen them going as high at $600. So if you can find one around $300 go for it.

Considering the size and ease of portability the sound on these units are incredible especially when paired with a 2nd unit. I’ve had mine nearly 5 years and starting to feel it could use an update or refresh on features.

@@linodstud yeah I love mine especially since I added a proper top handle like old school boomboxes have and some rgb led rings around the speakers and rgb vu meters now it’s truly a modern boombox masterpiece. Unfortunately getting ahold of one now a days is almost impossible 😣

You should make an updated video showcasing your updates. Maybe you will inspire others to make similar mods.

I covered the pronunciation differences in the beginning because I’ve heard many people pronounce it differently. who’s to say who’s right? Unfortunately we will never know as the original company no longer exists. Well I suppose we could dig through the bowls of commercial history to find an add on one of their products. Anyway got it covered 😊
