Taking your recommendation Nathan, it’s my first trip to Japan next week staying in the ueno area 👌 only nervous about the train system 😂
@towada1066

I think you will be perfectly fine ... JR East has really modified the rail system to be foreigner-friendly ... on some lines there will be announcements in four languages: Japanese, Mandarin, Korean and English. Beijing metro is much more orderly than Tokyo but Tokyo Station was restored and you can really see the beauty of Meiji Era Japan ! (^_^)

Thats a great video, thank a lot for sharing it with us. We will be spending 3 nights next March in Aizuwakamatsu, and plan to visit pretty much all that recommended here. We will also include a visit to Kitakata, as we both love ramen. I think painting an Akabeko, could be good fun, and a very special souvenir. We dont speak Japanese, but are very well travelled, and had so far in 3 trips to Japan (each lasting 4 weeks, and including many off the beaten places), absolutely no problem because of that. So do you think, that this would be okay for us ? Thanks a lot for your response, and also, for your wonderful channel.

Great job with this video! Looks like an interesting place. I’ll need to add Aizuwakamatsu to a future trip to Japan for sure.

Sounds great! I do recommend also fitting in a night or two away from the big cities too! You won’t regret it (especially if you can do ryokan or similar accomodation)

Another ' best kept secret' of Japan is Shikoku and the multiple small islands off Takamatsu i the Seto Inland Sea. We were there, by sheer accident of timing, during the Triennial Art Festival and it was still very quiet, with almost no foreign tourists.

It's frustrating to me,... when people there speak their dialect I can't understand a single word ! (>-

ww! ... Meiji is my most cherished era so I can't stand Bakufu and samurai (the only exceptions are Yamamoto Yae and Nakano Takeko) ... also, in this region are Okiagari-koboshi if you like toys ... actually, I think it is really easy to escape tourists, just go to any museum featuring Western art (^_^) ...
@NinjaMonkeyguy
@NinjaMonkeyguy 11 месяцев назад
Hahaha.. yes but, then when you get back out it's full of tourists again :)

@@NinjaMonkeyguy hmm,... in Kiba and Funabashi this is not the case (^_^) ... ah! I like Saigo Takamori too but he was a traitor to the Meiji government.

Loving your videos as I’m dreaming about a second trip to Japan. How common is it to find English speakers, menus, signage, etc., in this city? I know only the polite basics of Japanese.
@NinjaMonkeyguy
@NinjaMonkeyguy 10 месяцев назад
Like anywhere out side of the major cities english might be less available but it’s still easy to navigate with broken English and google translate .. don’t let the language barrier deter you

This place looks so historic and comfy.But hearing the crickets singing ,its sound hot and the height of summer.The legend of the carp is amazing...i hope one day all carp become lucky dragons!I would make both of those painted cow shaped items..especially the cow bell.

A very nice tour video. Aizuwakamatsu is a postal town that I'd like to visit. It appears that there is a lot to do there. So I will put it on my ever expanding list of places in Japan that I'll have to go. Off to check out the partial solar eclipse. How many bottles of sake did you take to help you remember (maybe) your trip to this scenic town?
