Michael Jordan won Championships and MVP's. Caitlin still has to do it but they were calling her the GOAT without those achievements. They even said she could play in the men's league.

Marketing 101. People like who people like. No body cared about women’s basketball before Caitlin. Are there better players than her YES. DID any care about them NO. She’s the golden goose who’s going to get them paid. Ride her coattails so they can all make money

It doesn’t matter. The eyes are on CC. Instead of complaining about that, they should be using that to elevate the league and get the bag.

Aja Wilson is a privileged idiot complaining about the fact that she gets to make multiple hundreds of thousands of dollars playing a children’s game for a living in a company (WNBA) that produces such a historically low quality product that it has never once turned a profit. In fact it loses like $10 million per year. People don’t watch Aja Wilson play because she isn’t interesting to watch because the product on the floor is not as interesting as the product CC puts out. The color of her skin has NOTHING to do with it. This is yet another pathetic attempt to play the victim card and make excuses. Racism exists ofc but there is no evidence that it play a role in CC rise. Not only is race not a factor, but attractiveness isn’t even a factor. Angel Reese and Cameron Brink for example are far more attractive than CC but the respective teams they play for aren’t selling out arenas. People talk about white privilege all the time but pretty privilege is a thing. People are paying lots of money to see CC because she is more ENTERTAINING than any other woman the WNBA has ever had. Athletes are entertainers at the end of the day. It’s not racism, it’s MARKET BASED SUPPLY & DEMAND. It’s 👀

Hmm. There is the fact she is the most accomplished offensive college basketball player of all time whose three-point shooting is spectacular to watch. That might factor into it. And what if she was a role model to a lot of girls that say she looks like members of my community? Is that suddenly a bad thing? Hasn’t that been the kind of thing said a zillion times as being a good thing?

I believe race considerations can have an impact and probably do here. However, a huge part of the Caitlin Clark conversation is her NCAA scoring achievement. there are limits to how much you can claim is about race when you haven’t done what she’s done. If a black athlete wants to see how much they’re limited by race here is a perfect opportunity. Score like she scored. Surpass her scoring record. Then on top of that. Do what she hasn’t done when an NCAA championship as well. These companies claim that they gave her millions and put her name and face everywhere because of her achievements. So, it should be guaranteed money and fame for a black woman who breaks her record.

A'ja by definition is a 'racist' but then again, ALL humans are... by definition. Look up the definition of 'racism' before attacking my words. Player self-victimhood mentality is a big reason why the wnba has been a failed business year after year. CC is a better entertainer on the court & pro sports is an Entertainment Industry, as defined by law. CC has presented herself to be feminine, neutral in regard culture issues & politics. She know her job. A'ja & most of the League do not.

I agree with A’ja. For those who disagree you’re either blind or delusional. Blacks are not hating on CC she’s a great player but look at all the great players in the WNBA that were there before her but never got the recognition that they deserve,this is the point.Thumbnail !!!

How about Caitlin Clark broke a ton of records. It has nothing to do with race. No one is perfect. Something about Caitlin,she's never once said one bad thing about anyone. She's always humble,kind, and ALWAYS lifting up ALL women in basketball. I'm sick and tired of this race crap. Amd A'ja had a shoe deal in the works for 2 years way before Caitlin did. However, she just let the fighting continue because she wasn't ready to release her shoe. Do some research!

The problem is that they don't want to grind in order to grow their game like the men had to over decades. They want it handed to them. That's why they don't think outside of "we just want what the men get paid" rather than focusing on what would grow their game to reach that point organically.

ESPN is following the crowd not creating. ESPN takes every moment they can to promote. If people were tuning in and buying Aja's jersey left and right, ESPN would be there. ESPN and other entities (i.e. NBA) can only do so much. On the race issue, race can play a factor, but it is not like Clark is the first white woman star in WNBA. You have Lobo, Taurasi, Stewart, Sue Bird, and the list goes on. Why did none of them capture people's attention the same way? People like to make things complicated, when they are not. These comments are comming a lot more out of jealousy. The main reason people tuned it was was her style of play. Will she be great in WNBA? Who knows. But in college, Clark was draining 3s from half court like Seth Curry and dishing when doubled team. Also, guards tend to get more love ratings wise over bigs on average. This is no different than the NBA. A Seth Curry, Kobe, or MJ capture people's attention a lot more than Jokic or Tim Duncan. There are bigs who are just as exciting (i.e. a Shaq), but on average they just don't. Right now, in my opinion- Anthony Edwards is the most entertaining NBA player to watch at this moment. The NBA implemented a shot clock and 3 point line in for a reason. Ratings and people watching isn't just about winning. People want to be entertained. ESPN, NBA, WNBA, they will go and follow the ratings and thus the $$$$$.

@redbeardandfriends
@redbeardandfriends Месяц назад
@kevindickerson9513 but the owners of the teams and the corporate media are not! That's the contradiction people seem to miss.Believe it or not it's a pseudo master slave relationship, if you see how the players are traded how people talk about adding this "piece and that piece" referring to people as if they were property. I know there are people who will say, "make me a millionaire slave" but that's exactly why they put up with it,bcs of the amount of money the players can make, but I say given the fact the an athlete's career doesn't last that long ( maybe 10-15ys. if they're lucky) it's only fair they get that type of money. Bcs most of them have life long injuries, (knees, back, neurological etc.) And there were some football players who died broke from draining all their resources treating neurological injuries. So the problem like everything else in this country is rooted in a massive contradiction! The question is how do we get out of it?

@bfe954
@bfe954 Месяц назад
You’re trying to make an aloft to slavery and a master slave relationship but there’s 2 key holes in your argument: #1 Slavery is morally wrong because you are stealing someone else’s labor Person A who is working for Person B is FORCED against their will to perform AND doesn’t get the benefit from their labor. In the WNBA like any other employee/employer relationship you as a player VOLUNTARILY sign a contract saying you will abide by certain rules. You have the option to say NO. #2. Unlike any other company/profession oor workplace environment in America…the WNBA has PRIVILEGE. The privilege is that they aren’t required to make a PROFIT in order to survive. The WNBA is not a non for profit organization, yet it has NEVER made a profit EVER in its entire existence as a company. Now imagine a scenario where any other employee/human being of any company in America had the gall to complain about not making enough money at a company that lost $10 million every year!? 😂 The fact that you get to complain about not making enough $$ playing a children’s game for a living, for a company that doesn’t actually deserve (objectively) to exist in the first place is the very definition of privilege. This is why logical thinking individuals laugh at this “I’m a victim of racism.” “I’m a victim of systemic oppression from institutions” etc etc as a load of nonsense. These women live in the most privileged time period in human history in the most prosperous country in human history with all of the benefits and almost none of the responsibility. And when you repeat this lie that they are victims you create a society full of jealous entitled people who think they deserve equal outcomes simply for existing and breathing. Equal outcomes is not the same as equal opportunity. They are different. Equal outcomes are neither virtuous or moral
