About Ven. Ajahn Amaro (Phra Rājabuddhivaraguṇa):
Born in England in 1956, Ven. Amaro Bhikkhu received a BSc. in Psychology and Physiology from the University of London. Spiritual searching led him to Thailand, where he went to Wat Pah Nanachat, a Forest Tradition monastery established for Western disciples of Thai meditation master Ajahn Chah, who ordained him as a bhikkhu in 1979. Soon afterwards he returned to England and joined Ajahn Sumedho at the newly established Chithurst Monastery. He resided for many years at Amaravati Buddhist Monastery, making trips to California every year during the 1990s.
In June 1996 he established Abhayagiri Monastery in Redwood Valley, California, where he was co-Abbot with Ajahn Pasanno until 2010. He then returned to Amaravati to become Abbot of this large monastic community.
Ajahn Amaro has written a number of books, including an account of an 830-mile trek from Chithurst to Harnham Vihara called 'Tudong: The Long Road North,' republished in the expanded book 'Silent Rain.' His other publications include 'Small Boat, Great Mountain' (2003), 'Rain on the Nile' (2009) and 'The Island: An Anthology of the Buddha's Teachings on Nibbana' (2009) co-written with Ajahn Pasanno, a guide to meditation called 'Finding the Missing Peace' and other works dealing with various aspects of Buddhism.
In July 2019, along with Ajahn Sumedho, Ajahn Pasanno and Ajahn Jayasaro, Ajahn Amaro was honoured by the King Rama X of Thailand with a new ecclesiastical title of ‘Chao Khun’. Together with this honour he was given the name ‘Rājabuddhivaraguṇa’.

I strongly believe that both of Ajahn Sumeto and Ajahn Amaro are the Arahant monk .they are genuine disciples of the Lord Buddha that humans and angels pay respect to them . These are the real monks of Buddhism. I am so lucky to hear their teaching although my English is not good enough to understand all but I understand 85 percent of their dhamma talking . I hope to have a chance to offer foods to Ajahn Amaro at Wat Nong Par Pong .Ubolrachathani Thailand during 12 -17 January 2022 after the Coronavirus be over . Sadhu Sadhu Sadhu. from Thailand.

Nice to know you are giving food! Is there a list of English events in Thailand in any website? How to find out the dates?

Sadhu! Sadhu! Sadhu! What a wonderful teaching with which to start my day today. Clear, concise, with relevant meaningful examples Ajahn Amaro teaches the path to the deathless as did the Buddha and as do the other great teachers. It seems that he might prefer to use his time to complete the things yet to be done rather than teach the sleeping masses. His choice to offer teachings is truly selfless. Thank you to BIA for posting this to YT for all to see. Thank you to all the Bhikkus, Bhikkunni, lay men and women who makes these talks accessible to jus who cannot be present. Sadhu! Sadhu! Sadhu! Sadu Sadu Sadu Ajhan. I am lucky to know you and be able to listen to your teachings. The way you explain the Buddha's words, resonates deeply in my heart and builds a so needed base for insight. May you be well and free from suffering.

Yes!! Vipassana is not something that one does. Vipassana means insight, and it is something that occurs from correct practice.

We (Buddhists) need to spend more time talking about what we are, as Ajahn Amaro does near the end of this talk, much more. Too many Buddhists become nihilists due to a lack of talks like this.

Dear Buddhists, I got an initiation in a cult and it is really painful. Even if I am not a member anymore. Could someone recommend me, what to do? I could become homeless soon, I can not control my body anymore. I am afraid that it could take control of me and I could give my body fully away. I think they can do whatever they want with me. What should I do?

This may be relevant to the question of anatta around 1:05. In sutta nipata, Buddha advised a yogi to use the perception of nothingness and the awareness there is nothing, to help cross over. Of course this advice was specifically tailored for the yogi stage of practice, but it may be helpful to keep in mind. Cheers.

it is very complicate to talk in vipassana or four dhyanas. there are several things around mind inside. or penetrating mind in body. it takes lot of time to understand it but it certainly work. in first stage it is simple observations but once your mind start penetrating the body actually the vipassana start. or it is the first dhyan . continues study of this make you feel turning into self realisations. all sorrow or dukhas ruined out slowly. sometime you even feel your mind not beling to you also. but it is to difficult to know the chita or practicing chittanupassna is very difficult. i observed that no one talking on these four dhyanas . mostly they are not understanding it fully.

Tell the monastery, that I did that, because I need help, that's all. I need someone to pray for me. It is reaaalllyyy very badddddddd. And I think you should not discuss me, this is not allowed. Someone told me that everything went wrong just because of too much discussing. If you would not have discussed it so much.... I am about to be punished, for what I did, and be tortured, quite badly, and send to hell. There is nothing waiting for me in the future. So please pray for me. Everyone who wants...

Amaravati have shut comments to their videos. Amaro and the other monks are absolutely useless and their teaching is circular nonsense. But no one can criticise them, as they are holier than thou.
