ABOUT SPEAKER
Ajahn Brahmavamso Mahathera (lovingly known to most as Ajahn Brahm) was born Peter Betts in London, United Kingdom in August 7, 1951. He came from a working-class background, and won a scholarship to study Theoretical Physics at Cambridge University in the late 1960s.
After graduating from Cambridge he taught in high school for one year before travelling to Thailand to become a monk and train with the Venerable Ajahn Chah Bodhinyana Mahathera.
Whilst still in his years as a junior monk, he was asked to undertake the compilation of an English-language guide to the Buddhist monastic code - the Vinaya - which later became the basis for monastic discipline in many Theravadan monasteries

I wanted to share this moment and take this opportunity to thank you Ajahn Brahm for your videos. My fiancés passed on 10/17/2017 we celebrated her life and had two big parties after her funeral at the time I knew that she was happy and she wouldn’t have to suffer anymore and that brought me peace. But over the last 2 months I forgot that i wanted to celebrate her life and relish in all our happy memories and grow from the experience. I found myself not living in the moment, but in the past wishing for things beyond my control. The future seemed irrelevant and clouded by sadness. I felt lost within myself. During this time I would continue to meditate and practice mindfulness. Some moments were better than others. I found that Meditation and grieving are similar in a way that time has no meaning but one perception is to uplift and free you of clutter and the other is wallowing in sadness and perceived or real guilt. In both case I realize time is an illusion. I found your channel today and your lessons have reminded me that i should cherish the time we had and celebrate our life together in the now. I know she is always a part of me. We are bound beyond the physical and one day when my time has come we will be together again. But I still have lessons to learn and people to help. I try to live a very positive and mindful existence but it has been challenging since Mary has passed. Today you helped me to alter my perception and take another step towards healing. I greatly appreciate your words of wisdom. I am glad my path lead here today. Much love and Respect.
