Love this area, was there for 8 months, flew home 2/2020. Covid had delayed returning to retire in Chapala, just 5 miles from Ajijic. This was a real treat to get to see the sites that I remember so well. Blessings to you two.
It's amazing that you still got to spend 8 months there. We know the feeling of not being able to go back due to Covid. Hopefully you can start your retirement in Chapala soon!
New Subbie💃 I love Ajijic and you did an awesome job with the aerial views! You guys are so cute together and your smiles are contagious. Looking forward to watching more of your videos🤗
I was there for my first visit around this same time in 2020... It was lovely and I would like to go back for a longer stay... thanks for posting this terrific video
Guys, up the hill fron the water park in San Juan Cosala where you were, there are 2 very beatiful (5 star I would say) places worth the visit, those two places function as hotel-spa-restaurantes, Monte Coxala, and La Vita Bella. The views of the lake are incredible, the food is pretty good specially at la Vita Bella (obviously Italian food), so if you find it pricy to stay you could go for a meal at any time of the day, they both have a view of abou 180 degrees of the lake and the beauty of it depends whether you go in the morning, noon, evenening or night, during a clear day, you will be able to admire the inmensity of the lake, at dusk/night you will see the glittering lights of the towns around the lake coming to life, not to mention the beautiful climate all year round and the sound of nature like crikets, thunders in the distance and wind, depending of the time you chose to go. The beauty also depends on the season, during october you may be able to see a huge moon coming on the eastern side of the lake, or during the rainy season that lasts from mid June to around September you may enjoy the view of several big storms falling at the same time on the lake. Then about 10 miles from the town of Chapala ( for about 1000 pesos, and a 50 minutes ride in boat ) there is beautiful historic island named Mezcala with some very impresive historical buildings standing since colonial times, including a fort/prision, not to mention some very beautiful views of the lake but now from the middle of the lake. Best wishes from a native of Jalisco.
I felt this as I read it! Your description of it makes me want to go back now! We will definitely check our Monte Coxala if we're ever in the area again. You're not the first one to mention it, so we trust it's amazing.
I was just wondering, since Lake Chapala is not suitable for humans to swim in or even eat fish or produce watered by the lake; are the spas, steam rooms, and thermal springs polluted as well?
Is not that polluted, the people Is free to take a swim if they want, to eat fish from It, to do water sport as the atlets of Panamerican Games did there in 2011, the hot springs there are from volcanic waters due to that are totally clean and natural.
I've researched the problems at the lake as well in regards to water.... what happens when you have an excessive amount of arsenic in the water on a hot day? It's in the air.

Unfortunately she doesn't rent out the single room anymore, but she does rent out the entire Hacienda! Here's the hacienda: www.airbnb.com/rooms/36846101?s=67&unique_share_id=6a82ec34-da27-4620-97d5-ad0f0401fa15
