I’m an AK guy. But I recognize the need to diversify, so I’m grabbing some . 556/.223 and around fifteen mags. I’m sold on the Ace Gen II in .556 for the bombproof reliability and longevity. Like I said, once you fall in love with the AK’s legendary reliability... it’s hard to accept anything else. For the money, I like the Ace II. Personally, I think it’s one sexy rifle, but I realize I’m weird. Great video!
My Gen1 Galil Ace 7.62x39 is still one of my favorite guns. Super accurate and hella reliable. Not sure what Israeli space magic they used to make the barrels but both My Galils and my Tavor 7 still look gorgeous through a bore scope after thousands of rounds. Not even my DD or BCM cold hammer forged barrels even come close.
@AmmoLandTV Cool yes. Practical... not really. Just like with glock mags AR magazine compatability is a huge plus. Also last round bolt hold open and bolt release, as well as straight mag insertion and removal, are huge advantages. Rock and lock is more secure and mechanically simple. But that doesn't outweigh the other benefits. I do miss the Gen 1s though. I actually prefer the gen 1 stock and forend esthetically speaking. However that's basically the same as the rock and lock mags technically speaking. Logically the gen 2 is a worth while modern upgrade.
I am a huge galil ace fan and both gen1 and 2 are awesome but I wish the gen 2 came with iron sights. I don't get why any manufacturer would sell a gun without sights.
Almost every AR manufacture does this. Some still include them like LWRC on their premium models but those are around $2400 starting out vs this being $1600.
In all the years I’ve owned my rifles, I can count on one hand how many times I’ve used iron sights. They’re a backup system that you’ll probably never use for the duration of the time you own your rifle(s) given how shooters can better engage targets with red dots and optics.
@@BurstReview I purchased my 8.3" 5.45 gen ii for about $1,599 on some random sale at my LGS. It definitely feels like an $1,800 firearm. The machining is very well done on the milled receiver and because of that it feels very unique when you cycle the action. I'm not somebody who has a ton to spend on firearms, but the Galil from IWI is just one of those guns you feel good having in your collection.
Unlike other commentors, I like the look of the new rifle, though a bit leery of the aluminum handguard for heat reasons. Noting how the bolt locked back on empty mags--huge plus!-- is there an external BHO?
I've read lots of reports on reddit of people experiencing issues with their gen 2 5.56 when using lancer and even gi mags. did you experience anything?
With lancers, no. I had issues locking up 20-round USGI surplus mags unless I really slammed it home. I also had one Brownells mag that would fail on the second round if the mag was fully loaded. But the C-Products aluminum mags, and the random Asian military old prebans worked fine.
well, we admit that the AK version of Galil makes some sense, but for 556, come on, what is the advantage of this configuration? especially with this price tag, we can find much better ARs, more accurate, and lighter!
They Ace's are all over gassed. But the 7.62x39 is particularly punchy. But I have shot a few AKs that are just as punchy. But I have shot a lot of AKs over the years.
I still prefer the OG ARM. Integrated Bipod/wirecutrer/bottle opener... Bayonet lug. ROCK N LOCK MAGS. Flip up night sights. Plus it just looks better 😂
This one is def more modular and modern. The AR buffer tube is a nice addition compared to the gen 1 where you’re stuck with one type of stock. The mlok hand guard a great considering how a lot of gen 1 owners would pay $200+ for a hand guard upgrade.
I felt that way when I was in Japan for a month. I had to visit 3 shoe stores to find a size that would fit me. Apparently size 11 is yuuge in Japan lol
The days of $500 AKs are long gone. If you want a decent one with CHF barrel you're looking $1k+. Fit and finish of a Galil Ace BLOWS AWAY any AK all day every day.
@@muffemod- yeah but we can buy about about two or three Ar15 that are solid or excellent. We can buy a good quality Ak with a KNs Gas adjust part and changes for ammo. The ace will pretty outshoot the Ak, but it isn’t going to be too much of difference tho.
@@dankershaw5875 Well, The M70 ive had for 6 years and absolutely beat the fucking dog shit out of, would disagree. My Galil has had a couple different FTF issues and seems to be picky with different ammo selection.
@@dankershaw5875 Again, speaking on my own personal experience....They're phenomenal rifles. I own several M70's, 2 Zpap92's, and a Zpap85 and have not had ONE fuckin problem. Like....at all. And run the shit out of my rifles. They dont just sit in a safe or get taken out for photo ops. I actually shoot my guns and i can tell you they've held up tremendously well.
@mr.martyr8573 zastavas are fantastic, but its weird to me your experience with galils since i have a few thousand down both of mine with no issues as well. havent really seen any FTF issues with them feom others and youre saying you have a couple issues with that. they are rock solid milled ak's essentially and mine havent been even remotely picky on ammo in the few years ive had em
