I'd say if you are going to do any weathering to your model, washes would be the best one. It really makes the model pop.

Hi there first of all I want to say your channel is absolutely amazing. I am just starting to get back into model making after about 20 years out and god how things have come on before you just got the colours and painted them now there is absolutely so much you can do. I have a question tho that I am confusing myself over when do you know what colour primer to use ? And do you actually have to use a primer or can you thin down a actuall colour Regards Andrew

Hi , thanks so much for all your videos they are super helpful. I'm still quite new to model making. Do you recommend a gloss coat first before weathering? It is then recommended to do another gloss or matt coat (or does it matter) over the top of the weathering to seal it? Thanks again.

yes as a beginner its all ways good to add a gloss coat before weathering, and I normally seal it in with the final coat

As I using AK paint as base layer, also using AK paint for wash, I believe I need to paint a layer of vanish to avoid wash off the base layer. I still stuggling on what vanish I should use to protect base layer before wash. As AK product are arylic which will be washed off as well... Thanks a lot

I use Mr. Super Clear and Tamiya TS-13 for my varnish. These are both lacquer varnishes and work well over acrylics and dry very fast. Don’t use them over enamels though as they will eat the paint.

No, it’s oil based and must be cleaned with lacquer thinner.

Get into this AK Interactive stuff and boy is it gonna cost you. Used diy white spirit airbrushing and diluting never a problem. Save money and buy up part used paints. A high quality pastel chalk set can give you just about any weathering finish imaginable and lock it in with clear spray
