Do not "NEVER" cut that off your lower handguard retainer, your resale value will drop by thousands of dollars, FK Midwest twice on Sunday squared for not offering a proper engineered equipment. Its very expensive to repair that and It's not smart to be dumb... so don't do that. Can't the hand guard be hammered/cut/torched/modified so the saiga is not molested?
You don't cut off the whole retainer, only the part of the sling loop - it stays functional. It needs to be removed otherwise the whole handguard needs to be 1.5cm thicker on at least one side. Also the Saigas are pretty cheap here 😅
@@vorwaerts_nie_zurueck Our prices have increased since the 2013 import weapon ban on Russian weapons. Plus, they were only imported as hunters, so they have to all be converted domestically in america. When we get saiga hunters they don't come with a lower hand guard retainer and the barrel does not even have the lightning cuts or retainer lock notch. Midwest is making that hand guard for the neutered cuck versions of saiga they imported here in america not the cool normal version yinz get over there. Our saigas where 300 each but now they cost a lot more, closer to 1000 each for pre ban hunters, and converted saigas are 3000 or higher now. Thats why we don't cut the carry strap loop off the lower handguard retainer.
@@TheBlackAce99 Pawn shops local gun shops and private personal trades or buys when I see someone with one laying around. Most people sell them cheap because they have no idea how to convert a saiga. Basically, it's easy to find a cheap saiga, it's the Russian Izhevsk lower handguard retainer and the 90 degree gas block with grenade launcher mount that's hard to find they cost 1/2 as much a the rifle.
"Barrel diameter of .700 under lower handguard Lower furniture length of 6", not counting mounting surfaces This model will not fit Yugo pattern rifles" - I suggest you remove your handguard and measure the barrel and handguard
