Today we take a look at the bug that came bundled with the 2.12.2 Akai mpc firmware update. This, as usual, might not affect everyone, but a lot of complaints about the repeated login and plugin activation issue has been popping up.

I am disappointed that Akai forces registration and iLock to use the the plug-ins that ship with the MPC Key 61. That is a deal breaker for me. I will be looking elsewhere for a music workstation.

Oh I thought the iLock is only for their MPC 2 Desktop version, which is applicable to other DAW. Didn’t know it’s applicable to key 61 as well. Trying to figure out the rationale though.

Firstly, Congratulations on Acquiring Your New Baby MPC SE. Secondly, Try Uninstalling That Inmusic App Then Reinstall It... That Fixed A Similar Issue That I Had In It's Early Introduction. Hopefully That Works. Also Can You Do A Tutorial On How To Get The MPC2 Software To Open Without Right Clicking On The Icon To Pull Up The Administration Login... I Wanna Be Able to Just Double Click On The Icon and It Opens... It Use To Do That But now it Doesn't. Thanks.

Thanks for this information I’ll look into it. Concerning the MPC2, I use a Mac and I am able to launch it with just a click, could your issue be windows PC related?

@@BitBenderStudio Possibly, However, Akai Did Put a Fix Into It's Latest Update, Either 2.12.2 or 2.12.3 But I Can't Seem To Follow Along With Their Explanations... I Need Tutorials.

Yes this bug is so annoying, and as you said it still happens in 2.12.3 ( using wifi on my ONE + )

Hi its been like that since 11.x.x . So Akai have done nothing about it . I have 2 MPC Live. It happens on both. Both are on 11.4

This not a bug. This is just how they designed it. This has been a thing since the release of the Key61. I had to keep logging in periodically to use plugins I purchased. And it always prompted me at the worst moment when I was in the zone creating something and then my whole thought process got thrown the f@ck off 'cuz I had to stop and go log in. I called Akai about this and they said that s just how it is. I don't use akai plugins I have to keep logging-in to use anymore. I'll spend my well earned money on actual hardware from now on.

Oh wow. I have two of the devices and prior to the release of this new firmware version this doesn’t happen. My guess is maybe the person who attended to you from their customer desk is iffy on the know. This kind of login per time can be frustrating and as a software developer that I am it is considered a bad design, given there’s no transaction that warrants the authentication to timeout after each login.

Akai should focus on perfecting the core functions and stop feeding us new paid fx and instruments. i wont buy a single one from them, its not why a bought the machine, i bought it as a sampler and there is a loooot that they could focus on to make that SAMPLER better. Now, with this useless authorizing "system" i certantly wont be changing my mind and activating anything. fix the mixer! fix the return and busses! make them flexible, i like Akai because they support all their machines both Gen1 and later, that is a very wise strategy but these plugin mania is not promising specially when you dont know if you are going to be able to use the darn "vst"

You guys never developed Software. You dont know how hard it is. It is the fucking problem that we want everything as cheap as possible.

About that, I’m actually a software developer. I’ve been providing software solutions for over 2 decades. So, yes I understand the steps involved in versioning release cycle. No one is blaming them, it’s a tip for them to be aware of the bug and fix it.
