I like that drive , i saw them at best buy , do you need that bracket ? or just the holes ? Im getting my mpc live soon and I can see the need for it . question : can you connect a drive from the other ports they have in the back of the unit or is it best to use the one that is under that plate? thanks for posting this !
There is no menu on the LIVE that I can see that will format the SSD so I will have to take mine out and format on the computer. According to AKAI FAQ for the LIVE, there were supposed to be screws shipped with the unit to screw the SSD onto the plate (that is how I read that FAQ) but none were in the machine. You dont need to use all four screws. two will work fine if you dont have 4. screw one top left and bottom right. the compartment is snug to hold the SSD form moving around.
Yes, no way to format it from with the MPC Live. Once you connect it to the PC and place the Live in Controller Mode it will show up on your computer as an external drive that you can then format.
Thanks bro. I have no plans to use software with the mpc live or X so unless i can do this sans mpc software running ill just know to format them before i put them in. Still akai should make it avail to format since it IS considered standalone and not just a controller.
2 important questions.... 1.is it possible to format the hard drive from the unit or do you have to format the hard drive before you install it into the unit?............ and 2. can you do a video showing the steps for accessing that drive, and loading audio from that drive?
No way to format it from with the MPC Live. Once you connect it to the PC and place the Live in Controller Mode it will show up on your computer as an external drive that you can then format. I will try to post a video later today.
I really wanna know if you can access your new second hard drive from your PC or Mac? In other words could you keep your master sample library on their and access from other programs like Ableton ?? 🐑👈🏼🔌
You can once you connect it via USB and place it in Controller Mode. Also, if your hard drive was not pre-formatted, there's not a way to format it from with the MPC. It's easy to do once you connect it, and your PC/Mac can format it.
always faster. bottleneck will be in the RAM and how much you have going on at once. remember this is a laptop computer with 2gb of RAM. you can have the fastest drive in the world but if you have no RAM or limited RAM, you will experience issues.
whats up fam. absolutely not sir. ive saved new samples recorded externally from phono and my smartphone and old programs from a previous mpc. if this is occurring for you, make sure the sata connector is connected firmly and the hdd in the caddy is not pushing up against the sata connector on the board as its a very tight space in there. again im using a ssd samsung 250gb
I recently installed my SSD in my Live, formatted it to exFAT. It seems fine at first, but after about 5 or 10 mins it automatically ejects itself when in controller mode. I'm using a MacBook Pro, and the SSD is a Crucial MX300. Anybody else experiencing this problem?
I figured it out! From what I've been seeing in forums people are experiencing the same issue with Crucial MX300. I returned the Crucial MX300, and just picked up a Samsung EVO 850. It is installed, and reformatted to exFAT and works great!... So far.
