The award-winning hip-hop artist, education activist and author, Akala received an honorary doctorate from Oxford Brookes on 23 June 2018. This is Akala's speech at his graduation ceremony.
University's sometimes give degrees to people in the public eye as an honour... You don't need to have studied to get one. You just need to be the sort of person the university wants to honour. They don't happen very often.
They make it up as they go along. They wouldn’t know the truth if it hit them in the face He has a lot of built up guilt and identity problems. He’s a good storyteller but no substance to his discussion like a horse with blinkers.yes just like AKALA you have learned something today no substance to his discussion
@A M That seemed like a fair enough question. It would have been nice for him to have elaborated. I'm interested in what Akala talks about so open to try and understand other peoples point of view.
@@bbcfakenews8333 I'm interested in what Akala has to say. The thing I admire about Akala is if he doesn't know about a subject he will admit it but he has studied British history in relation to race and class. It's why his book is littered with reference from the British library, old government papers etc. What you see as guilt or identity issues is someone taking about history and with the connection to his Celtic and Jamaican heritage. The personal comment kind of feels like your projecting. It can be hard because some of ous have our pride tied to our country even though we didn't do the things in the past so I don't think he's trying cause offence when discussion British history I'm always opens to hear differing points of view. What precisely did he say that you disagree with?
