It's 2023 and I do not recommend this camera any more. Other reviewers noted that Akaso quietly changed some hardware and now the camera performance is subpar. Hard to trust that Akaso hasn't done this with other cameras in their line.

Hey there, so good to see scenes around Christchurch! We left there for the warmth and more happening vibe of Brisbane just after you would have posted this video. Also considering the V50X for the eScooter rides we're doing here. SJ8 is on my list too! I think you're right in saying there's no clear winner for us budget camera seekers. I notice the V50X photo time lapse minimum interval is 3 seconds. I do a lot of 1 sec and 2 sec time lapse's . Is there any way around this? Am I missing a setting?

You get better audio but also get the weird jello effects on the v50 pro. For how I plan to use the v50x I prefer the stabilization and hopefully the external mic will fix the audio issue.

Your panning of 1080P resolution and weak microphone was very helpful. I'd prefer not to shoot 4K for the file size. So I'll keep using my DBPower until a something better comes along.

aHello can you help me with advice, I have an akaso v50x with an external akaso microphone, but I can't record good sound. When I put it in the helmet, it is too loud and the voice is too deep so that it makes noise, and I tried a lot of positions, is it possible that there is a problem in the camera or should I try a better microphone according to your recommendation. My V50X has never taken a picture on my phone in the Akaso app, only videos. I switch it to picture mode on the phone and press take a picture and it starts recording a video. Does anyone know the answer to how to fix this - or what I'm doing wrong - what I'm missing - is there a step there somewhere? I mean this is 10 days now I've never figured it out. I've tried setting the camera before turning on the Wi-Fi to the photos mode stuff like that; and also is there any way to get this wi-fi screen off of the Akaso itself and actually view what the camera is seeing regardless of the phone? I'm about to return this thing and I hate to do that.

The Product description in user manual says, (www.akasotech.com/usermanual/v50x.pdf) it has mini usb and mini hdmi port however in reviews from what I can see, looks like micro usb port, I am confused here. Can we connect 3rd party self powered microphone using micro usb to 3.5 female aux connector till the time akaso launches compatible mic. I am hoping they release but can never be sure.

I just got Akaso V50X. The still photo mode produces out of focus still images, tried various settings - still fuzzy. Customer service suggested to reset the camera. Did not help. I plan to use this camera for scuba photo, so still photo is important. Any ideas?

Still photos from mine look great. Is the video out of focus too? Try at 4k30 setting. If it's out of focus it is a defective camera. Return/replace in that case. Do note that photos will look more blurry in low light and underwater. Just the way action cameras are - tiny sensor and small lens cannot catch enough light so there is noise and the camera compensates for it by smoothing the image. Test in bright sunlight and see if it's still blurry or not.

Are you really suppose to use an action camera for vlogging though? My thoughts is an action camera is used for sports, underwater, action. Clips you can incorperate into a vlog.

I just bought one. It doesn't have a swipe down screen to activate wifi as is advertised. So I can't update the firmware. It also doesn't keep the date and time that I put into it - once you turn the camera off then on again it gets put back to 01 01 2022. Which means the filenaming - which includes date and time - doesn't work. I'm waiting for a refund or replacement.

At 4K 30 I think so. Good EIS is important in these situations, but keep in mind that good EIS won't be perfect while running, you well have to focus on keeping the cam steady too which may be difficult while paintballing

How long can a video record for? I read somewhere that after 4gb (about 9 minutes of non stop recording) it will automatically end that video and start recording on a whole new one? This is do to the formatting

Yes it automatically makes a new file. I'm not sure how long it is but probably closer to 6 min at 4k

@@sotelo765 you will have to use a video editing software also there might be a 1/4 second jump between them. I haven't tried putting them together yet so I can't say for sure sorry

@@sotelo765 probably not pushing it in deep enough. Try using the corner of a credit card, my v50x goes a few mm below the cam frame until it clicks in place

Many people don't point out that loss of quality from 4K to 1080p or 2K, where 4K downsampled to 1080p still looks way more detailed. That's a nice review and it's still a given as my first action cam. Hence my question: vlogging w/ external microphone, low light, inside car. Would you recommend a better option than the V50 X? Thanks

Thanks for the useful review. i prepare sport tutorials (swimming, running, jumping rope, and fitness). i bought thieye t5 edge and eken h6s, because of some famous reviews. After i faced some problems, i found your reviews, which were mentioning them. if i had seen you previously, i would never buy eken h6s, and i would buy thieye t5e. That's odd - is your card corrupting videos? Maybe as it's gotten full of data the speed is reduced. Could be bad card or just some incompatibility with the cam itself.

The SD card is as new as the camera I have deleted all the videos recorded so far. So it shouldn’t be full , the camera started “acting up “ and this message came along after I tried recording a video while the camera was mounted outside my car. Camera stops after 30s-1:00 of recording while driving. If it’s inside the car or anywhere else it does fine recording . Maybe the camera isn’t meant for outside the car lol

I've checked many other V50X reviews, The build-in mic is not sound bad. Maybe just your V50X's mic is damaged.

You don't HAVE TO believe me, but just saying, if the other reviews you watched don't point it out as an issue their opinions might be untrustworthy. Redskullpro said that it was the worst mic of the 3 Akaso V50 series cameras. Tech4all said this is one of the best cams he's tested recently although the when they release the external mic the value of this cam will increase significantly. Those are two RU-vidrs whom I trust wholeheartedly and I recommend products I haven't tested to friends/family based on their evaluations. Maybe if you point the camera directly at yourself and you're in a studio setting you'll hear something acceptable. But out doing action things, it's 🔇 super quiet. I purchased this camera and returned it on the same day. Image quality is not good and audio is just plain BAD. I bought a Gopro Hero 7 Black for about twice the price and it has been worth it IMO.

They're $89 currently. They used to be ~$70-80 and at this point it's a several year old camera. Goes to show how little innovation there's been in the action cam space

I mean,I'm using this cam for bike riding.I don't need to see blades of grass.i couldn't care.my main focus is to have footage of morons trying to run me off the road.mic ....couldn't care less...What do you expect its $100..
