Rumi's poetry have been portrayed too much in a secular way in the west completely undermining the islamic elements in the translations to the point of making him a sole love poet. He spoke of divine love and also his famous quote: "I'm just on the path of Muhammad." In general Sufism too so much misunderstood in the west. Though as a Muslim who studies about other religions, philosophies and science. I agree there is an essence of divine or truth in everything but mixed up and flawed in some way or another. Peace✌🏻

One of the things I love about your videos is how visually rich they are, perhaps because I am a painter. When I watch the videos dealing with topics of Islam, I notice how many depictions of human form there are from (relative) antiquity, despite the current ideas that Islam forbids painting or sculpting people and animals. Could you possibly do a video on art history in the Islamic world and how the current taboos of depicting people came to the fore?
@islamurdutoenglish4389
@islamurdutoenglish4389 2 года назад
It isn't a current taboo. There are sayings of the Prophet Muhammad pbuh forbidding it. Just like the Bible forbids it thus: Exodus 20:4-5 says, "Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth." Different individuals just adhere with different levels of strictness to religious laws, as they always have.

@WereScrib
@WereScrib 3 года назад
@Lilia murah Not gonna get hard here on most of this but the Tolstoy quote is a very literal forgery. Tolstoy has a lot of unorthodox views and did think well of Islam, but his Christianity is rather clear even in his unfinished works. There's a reason he's a founder of Christian Anarchism. But he was interesting heavily in ascetic practices of other religious creeds. Unfortunately, we literally know basically everything about Tolstoy's life because he wrote a daily journal of everything he did. He was a weird dude. Really the best evidence he didn't embrace Islam is that its not common knowledge, both the Tsar and the USSR wanted to slander Tolstoy due to his popularity and obsession with Georgianism, an economic system that was personally slammed by Marx but similarly called for the destruction of private property, and its inclusion in his final book literally excommunicated him due to pressures from the government. Heck, he died trying to join a Christian group as he felt Russia rejected his own form of Christian teachings.

@abubakarkhan4215
@abubakarkhan4215 3 года назад
What a great analysis that paints a neutral image of Akbar. Explaining his positive and negative sides. A question: Would you say that the scholars and people who opposed Akbar Deen-e-Ilahi had a good reason behind it. As i read, his unconscious way of mixing religious (by keeping everyone happy) was having a negative impact on the Islamic Jurisprudence “shariah” and the continuing mixing, might have been completely dissolved into some hybrid of many religious doctrine such that the actual knowledge of Shariah or the Muhammad’s religion would have been either completely wiped off or its actual knowledge would have been distorted for the coming generations.
@abubakarkhan4215
@abubakarkhan4215 3 года назад
Because in some way, being an Emperor he was following the same route as Emperor Constantine followed. As when Constantine regarded himself as a follower of certain religious idea then all his empire was also forcefully or unconsciously started accepting the religion of their Emperor and consequently becoming Christians. So in a way, both were similar and this way, Akbar Deen Ilahi (a hybrid religion) might have had the same influence on his empire and his people and therefore a lot of Islamic scholars came to the rescue to save the true teachings of Muhammad’s religion for the coming generations.

Actually, a lot of islamic rulers especially in kashmir region were kinda forced to become tolerant towards other religions as thus region had religious significant and was a very important pilgrimage cite which contributed to the economy of the region. When hindus and Buddhists were forced out of kashmir, the economy of the region crashed within a couple of years due to which a new political policy had to be introduced.

akbar was basically on the verge on becoming an 'indian' and creating a truly indian version of islam, sadly he had terribly unworthy successors- most noticeably aurangazeb who usurped the throne from his brother dara sikhon (who was very similar to akbar) hit the last nail in the coffin of this noble project, leading to centuries of animosity between hindus and muslims in india, which can be felt in the tensions between india and pakistan today. thanks a lot aurangazeb.

Vegaterianism is distinct of the Dharmic religions. Sufism in the subcontinent is a synthesis between the Dharmic religions and Islam. This is why some Sufis became Vegaterians. I know this because I am a Sufi. From the Dharmic religions, vegaterianism spread throught the world.

To me it seems that he wanted to create an order of sufi islam that wanted to counter, some of the thinking of the hard conservatives and more orthodox thinking Muslims by using the conclusions that he made from his discussions with the religious clergymen. Trying to submit an idea that all religions essentially want kind of the same and if they found a way to unite, in the common ideas they contain this may open a path of unity and harmony. So instead of focusing on our differences, focus on the similarities we have in belief. Actually a pretty nice philosophy.

I believe Akber was a Sufi. I came to understand that he utilised the humanitarian and universal methodology of divine add substance in his life which was been suggested by his great Sufi master Hazrat Salim Chisti. Commemmorising his advent, Akbar has built a huge Gate at Fatehpur Sikri. It was called in history the Buland Darwaza. But the worst mollahs of the rigid religion didn't admit him and they proclaimed that Akbar is a anti religionist.

Might find it interesting (though not really religion and more so spiritual belief, if those are different?) the spiritual beliefs of the native American people sorta blend together in some tribes with their tales of origin stories. Many with common characters just different stories slightly. One common character that is intriguing when described in them is a horned snake (peaceful snake that eats fruit, yes fruit) that comes to wise young men and as I recall gifts them knowledge. Interesting stories certainly. Really liked your video on sunni and shia differences, appropriate for the times now.
