AKG C-414 vs the Austrian Audio OC-818: Acoustic Guitar 

The 414 sounds well balanced and has beautiful highs. The 818 sounds more mid forward. Hopefully Austrian will release a new mic closer to the 414EB one day.

I’d like to hear them in violins or as close stereo pair on string quartet. Also woodwinds.

I've been considering getting a better mic for my Martin than the Bluebird SL mic that I'm using now. The 818 sounds better to me although its almost 100,000 more expensive than the 414 here in Japan. As it is, the 414 is already 60,000 more expensive than the Bluebird SL. Damn these crazy prices. :)

i am a fan of the 414. it sounds „real“ to me as the 818 already sounds a bit eq‘d.
