You're right, good ears, thanks for pointing that out. Seems to be around 10kHz, emi interference or something. Looking at my project files in Resolve I actually missed out doing any EQ for this video. I'll make sure to add a notch at 10kHz in future and see if I can find the source of this interference.
I've sorted it at the source, by routing the XLR cable differently. I've had this problem before and fixed it but things get moved around and this obviously creeped back in. I didnt notice it til you pointed it out, not sure why, it seems quite obvious now. My room is a nightmare, cables and computers everywhere, so many places to pick up interference.
Really thorough review thank you. As a novice, much of it went entirely over my head. I bought the 361 and your review left me feeling confident that it was a good decision. Pd Aud $155 on a special marked down from $199. Thanks again.
Yeah I don't really think the frequency response spec is necessarily helpful either tbh. What IS a good indicator of the same or similar driver is the size of it, impedance, and sensitivity. That can be a dead giveaway that multiple models are sharing the same driver, such as Sennheiser likes to do. If I had to guess these two share the same driver except the diaphragm is titanium coated on the 371 and not on the 361. You could also take off the pads and look at the damping underneath as well to compare that.
I might just skip the frequency range from now on. I always felt conflicted saying it, like whats the point, but I also felt like if I didnt I would be missing out part of the published spec.
@@WheezyTech I cherry pick my quick specs blurb at the beginning of my reviews now, FR not included. Just type, size, sensitivity, and impedance of driver and closed/open basically. You're gonna describe the sound and show a graph anyway so I don't see the point
Fair point, I prefer coiled cables for this reason, I don't like long cables and I don't like being tied to a short cable that keeps tugging the connector. I wouldn't have complained if they had used a 3.5mm with no twist to lock. Seems like an odd choice to use a 2.5mm twist to lock that isn't even compatible with other brands that use the same idea.
Hi Noel, I was sufficiently concerned by the QC issues you had with the K371 to contact the dealer I intend to buy the 361 from, and they assured me that as the reseller THEY will deal with issues that may arise with my purchase. I did my homework - CMI is the Australian distributor for AKG Professional - and hopefully that will be the last time I need to chase down details like that. As someone who has worked in tech support AND been on the other end of the phone, there is nothing worse than being bounced around while people do their level best to avoid responsibility for your issue (even when that is warranted). Harman really needs to get serious with their distributors AND their factories.
There's a weird rattling in the left/mid field on his recording. Sounds like some piece of dust bouncing inside it. If he's reviewing headphones and doesn't notice that then ugh.
I bought this headphones (akg361) for 74 euro . For this price I think I did well. the headphones will arrive next week and I'm curious to try them out
Hello sir, I'm planning to buy an best pair of headphones for watching movies Nd music, especially for singing ... In offer I'm getting k361bt for just under 40$.. Shall I buy those ....
Does anybody know what's the Maximum Input Power of both K361 as well as K371 from AKG? The company's website doesn't help that much either, as they didn't stated it on the headphone's specifications. I would like to buy a pair of K361, but I don't wanna risk of throwing a USD 100~150 by "accidentally" blowing up the drivers while cranking up the volume on a desktop amp. I have done that before on my previous headphones for the past two decades, and I don't wanna repeat that again!
In your opinion, is the K371 better for music listening all around? Also, are the ear pads replaceable on these? (I don’t think you’ve mentioned this in your other videos on the k361/371s I’ve seen - this is a big purchase point for me, I had an experience with some Bluetooth Audio Technica headphones and it’s ear pads)
@@mikelisteral7863hey, i know you from that big head-fi thread about these things (i never actually posted though, just lurked through the whole thing)
Two very different headphones, K361 if you want a closed back with a very neutral sound sig. Or HD599 if you want a good open back for a good price. I'd avoid the X2HR its overrated imo.
hey man, you reviews are awesome. i'm considering my first pair of "professional" headphones and i have a question. can you use those for longer hours while wearing glasses? mine are as thick as yours and the pairs i had made my head hurt. thx a lot
Hey thanks. I dont find I get any discomfort from these whilst wearing glasses. The ear pads are quite plush, feel like memory foam. These are definitely one of the more comfortable headphones out there.
@@WheezyTech you have mentioned that the 770 to be your benchmark for comfort. Would you still stand by this? I'm in struggle to get the most comfy at this price range
There arent many good closed backs out there for the sub 100 area. The DT 770 is one of my favourite, and a big part of that is the comfort. Big spacious earpads, a reasonable weight and a nicely padded headband, I can wear them all day. HD598cs/HD569 is probably the most comfortable but I dont like the sound signature. The K361 is super light, good sized ear pads, light clamping force. I think its probably as comfortable as the DT770 for me. The K371 is good too, its just out of the box the clamping force is a touch higher. I did find it gives after a while tho.
Bro can I use them connecting to laptop using blutooth and use mic.in some reviews I saw that we can't connect these to laptop via( Bluetooth even if u connect we can't use mic.)
The upper mids did bother me a lot on these, as well as the treble quality, seemed shouty all around and artificial on cymbals to me. Good job BTW, here because of metal 571, subbed Edit: forgot to say, strangely enough, I had a major geometry issue on the 371 that prevented a good seal (had to push on the lower part of the cup to get a good seal). Not an issue on the 361. Had to return both
I dont mind the mids too much on them, but yeah they arent quite as refined as the K371. I do prefer my DT 770 (EQ'd to Harman target) than the K361 although I reach for the K361 for video editing. I prefer the K371 tho, but I'm still waiting to get another K371 to do a proper A/B on the two of them. Also interesting to hear you have had an issue with the K371, I guess I'm not the only one thats experienced some problems with it.
@@WheezyTech Pro82 comes in v1, v2 and cooler master mh751/752 forms. I only have v1 but at least Compared to my favourite porta pro, the pro81v1 is much more detailed and almost tiring in some tracks
@@HiCZoK Yeah thats why I havent picked them up yet, I figured I would get both the v1 and v2 to see which one is best. Gotta order the v2 from Ali Express tho.
Mention the frequency response spec when relevant. I know my ER4XR has a spec that maxes out at 16KHz. Compared to my DT 770, the ER4XR cuts out at 17.5KHz and the DT 770 cuts out at around 19KHz (which is probably the limit of my hearing). So for me, I'm losing a tiny bit of high treble extension, which is relevant and if you were to review a single BA IEM (like the ER4XR). Mention when relevant. Alternatively, you can list out the specs on the screen that aren't so important, while speaking about the most important parts.
HD280 Pro is an excellent monitor for sure, you can't go wrong with that. But the K361 is mostly tuned to Harman curve which if that is your definition of neutral (it is mine) and thats what you are looking for, then K361/K371 would be good. If you arent so fussed about the tuning and just want to monitor audio then I'd get whatevers cheaper / or more comfortable.
I have them now for 2 months and I love them. I owned the Sennheiser HDII before, although I do think those sound a bit more balanced than the K361 I still think these are great headphones. Very comfortable, and i can use it for hours while producing/ mixing.
@@WheezyTech I think I found the wrong one when I made my last comment. Do you mean this one?: www.amazon.com/Antlion-Audio-Attachable-Noise-Cancelling-Playstation/dp/B07YN25KWN?ref_=ast_sto_dp
Hmm I'd say probably yes but I dont have a CAL to compare. I can say the K361 is more expensive, the CAL is a much cheaper and more fragile build. Also the K361 is sure to have a much more 'neutral' sound sig.
I know right, I feel pretty bad about this one tbh. I was so locked in on the edit points I kinda just missed it. Annoyingly the XLR cable was right next to a noisy switching power supply and picked up some interference. As soon as someone pointed it out I had a good listen and thought, how did I miss that? Mistakes happen, I think I've made some obvious mistake in most of my videos somewhere, but hey its all learning, I've only been doing this video editing for a few months.
"audio guys" are not gods but human. They make mistakes like you probably also do. You are that annoying buzz chiming in when somebody make 1 mistake...
I'd say K361 all the way, it is objectively the better headphone. But subjectively it depends what youre looking for. The K361 is very much a 'neutral' headphone whereas the M40x is quite coloured. The M40x is cheaper, but far less comfortable. If money is tight and you dont mind a coloured, bassy sound and can live with the comfort then the M40x is ok for £70. I'd pick the K361.
HD-6xx open backed boring Sennheiser. Twice the price. Not really fair to directly compare. Senns require expensive amplification to sound less boring.
Man to be fair you're a reviewer do I guess you should share all the information listed by the manufacturer you can't like just skip out information listed by the manufacturer even if it means dog shit
