Following the ratification of the U.S. Constitution, ordinary Americans and statesmen alike continued to wrestle with weighty questions over the nature of government. Preeminent legal scholar Akhil Reed Amar of Yale Law School and host of the Amarica’s Constitution podcast joins National Constitution Center President and CEO Jeffrey Rosen for a discussion about the biggest constitutional questions early Americans wrote and spoke about, as described in his groundbreaking new book, The Words That Made Us: America's Constitutional Conversation, 1760-1840.

Thank you both for the work that you do. Both Professors Rosen and Amar are amazing teachers. I wish I could audit their classes, this though is the next best thing!

Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us Akhil! I’m a huge fan and pre-law student that has been inspired by all your words. I am plowing through your newest work and have enjoyed every page! For those looking for the most comprehensive book on the constitution, the revolution, and our founding, this is it. Professor Amar’s depth of knowledge on the Constitution is unmatched. Combine that with his loyalty to the text and the history behind it through the constitutional interpretation of Originalism and you have a masterpiece! Thanks for sharing Amar!

Professor Amar, you have once again shown yourself to be, far and beyond, our finest constitutional scholar. I'm looking forward to what the next two additions of this "trilogy" hold .

Great talk keep up the good work. My ancestor was there, Jacob Stotler stepped off the good ship Edinboro from Germany in Philadelphia in 1754.

I do know how Akhil became a professor. He lacks speaking skills. I think ummm is his favorite word.
