Best form is back! ....for now
While the episode as a whole seems fairly alright on the surface, let's take a look at how it stacks up on it's own and against the absolutely insane action scene at the end that stands as one of the series' best

While the episode itself was really good, that Ota scene takes the cake. My jaw literally dropped, both Ishizuka and Ota did a fantastic job. Keep up the great work Skippy!

No words can do that last couple of minutes justice, just....freaking AWESOME! I also loved how Suzuki handled the Yamato flashback. He got me to care for a faceless beast pirate in such a short time.

And it goes to show that not all Beast Pirates even lower ranking ones are or can be decent people, and not all total scumbags.

After this episode I had to go back to the combo attack in the manga. Ishizuka's storyboard and Ota's key animation took a few small panels and a larger one on a double page spread and elevated it to something I never thought possible. It took a pretty hype moment in the manga and made it an instant classic in the anime. I couldn't be more happier.

Honestly, as someone who grew up watching Disney 2D movies and animated shoes, the best part of this is the translucent smoke and the facial fish eye looks lol. But that's just me.

The last scene really reminded me of the gear 2 holdem punch scene where everything was just sketchy and raw but insanely detailed as well. Was Akihiro Iti the same person then? I forget who animated very similar looking scene like that chopper vs Queen moment.

Great breakdown Skippy! Suzuki's direction was great this week, loved the extended miniflashback of yamato with the beast pirate. That last sequence from Ota/Ishizuka is absolutely breathtaking, we are blessed!!!

Man this last 2 episodes were great. So far the year was started pretty strong. Next episode will most likely be a bit more conservative but after that we have episode 1051 with I have high expectation considering the content.

I'll be honest I am not looking forward to the next episode because of the whole Perospero Nekomamushi fight since its not only my least favorite fight of this arc, but also it makes no sense thematically speaking.
