I came back here, 2 years after I’ve seen it for the first time, the flow of memories is just mindblowing. Me, being a diehard initial d fanatic at the time and seeing this... i knew at once I wanted a wheel, plus ive been interested in sim racing for some time already. It's amazing how so many Initial D fans seem to know nothing about cars or simply lack common sense. This video gives you exactly what the title says, an Akina downhill time attack in an 86. It's a pretty damn fast run too and that's because he's sticking to the racing line and not drifting when it would slow him down, only slight small angle drifts that don't sacrifice much speed. Sorry to burst your little fantasy bubble but drifting doesn't make you go faster around corners.

Nice, best I can do is 5:16 in that car and it's hard. You should try the E30 M3, not the DTM one but the vanilla one, it's a hoot around here, best I could do is a 4:58 in that car. The J's racing S2000 is pretty cool as well.

I think if you went for oversteer instead of understeer on your setup you would make much less time with a car like that.

This was with the Tuned AE86? My best yet was 5:24 with the Stock AE86, I'm not used to driving the tuned cuz of the power upgrade, I usually end up drifting most corners cuz I give it too much power.

Can you give me any tips on how to corner better these corners. I end up sliding and have slower speed on the exit. If not that then when i try to grip my car just won't go around the corner as fast as i want it to , or at least not as fast as you do, i try and try.

Your style/car setup promotes understeer under braking and oversteer under acceleration. Switch those around a bit to neutralize and balance the car through the corners, making it so that you're practically perpetually 4 wheel drifting coming up to, through, and exiting almost every corner, (some exceptions on some corners) and you'd be a lot faster on a course like this. You want the car to just barely initiate a 4 wheel drift going into a corner under braking (and also neutral steering) and be able to just barely understeer the front tires (and the weight of the car) under acceleration to be able to correct the inertia going through the corner. That way, your car and the weight of the car (inertia) is always pointing and following through to the perfect line and perfect exit.
