I just bought the 13 footer, the 400, here in the US for pompano fishing in Florida. It is the lightest rod in this price range, I believe, available. With shoulder issues, its about perfect. Throws 5oz great. Has very small guides at the tip. Works for me with 14 # mono line and very small shock leader knot. It is duel rung also.
I love Veals ,great tackle shop,.. so much better at casting than Gerrys lol... , you get an honest opinion of the tools for the job at Veals ,not just sold a rod and your money taken...where and how you fish with what tackle counts and I trust Chris and team at Veals too have that knowledge by fishing experience, and it shows in the sale , I've used all main UK sea tackle dealers in this past year and Veals and Bobco are plainly the best, because they care about the fishing and the fisherman 🙌🤟🎣
The reel is fine for the rod as would many other reels be. Most big pit styles of reel now come with a deep spool for mono and a shallow spool for low diameter braids so you get a very versatile set up.
