I mentioned in my other reply to you, check out the final version renders on the web site to get an idea of what it will look like at the end of the project, the current build is a prototype and the headlight / mirrors are more basic function for the prototype. The final version will look real good.

Ugh, it's definitely going to be heavy! I'm not doing much weight optimization on the prototype as it's more just to test out the general platform and behavior, it'll probably be around a 1,000 lbs if I had to make an educated guess. I'll definitely finalize and publish those numbers as I get further along. I would guess the weight+performance optimized production version would be more like 600-700 lbs.

Absolutely! I am working on a very similar video to that which goes over the design inspiration and reference material / models / images. But note it isn't my goal to replicate Kaneda's bike exactly complete with scratches and stickers and non-existent lean angles, but to make this a world where we can buy and ride a fully functional high performance recumbent motorcycle as much like Kaneda's as possible! These videos are detailing my prototype build, which will go through a few phases, but once the platform is demonstrated and tested and refined, I'll re-design and rebuild the entire thing from the ground using all high end high performance components. I'll do a full video soon on the build phases but you can find a short one here on the channel and info on it on my website. Check out the design tab and the final version renders on the web site. The current design for the phase VII (the final production version) looks very similar to Kaneda's ride but meets all federal / DOT requirements.

My bad, that was the CX500TC and later the CX650 TURBO. Evolved from the CX500...OH MAN! If you could get one of those CX500TC or CX650TC's. I just reviewed the footage from the movie, and the bike does seem to sound like a V-Twin. Also just like the Honda '83 Shadow/Ascot V-Twin engines they also have shaft drive as well ( I completely rebuilt one back in the 90's, from two engines, one with spun bearings and bad trans and one with cracked rear cylinder and completely turned to aluminum hamburger piston and rod bent like a banana. Awesome first engine to take apart and rebuild with a Clymer manual. I had ziplock freezer bags of parts all over the place marked with a black sharpie pen. My Uncle came over and looked at it and jokingly told my Dad that he would probably never see the garage floor again, LOL! Got it back together and in the frame and jump started it with from my car it started right up! I was jumping up and down like Daffy Duck. One of the best experiences I had in the early 90's). @@CobraTheSpacePirate I actually have both a 500 turbo and a 650 turbo now! Someone local was selling a running 500 turbo and a running 650 turbo - I scooped up the pair for a good deal!! I'll have a video with them both soon, got some pics on my instagram though. . Yeah the CX came out as a normally aspirated 500cc, a 500 turbo, a normal 650, and a 650 turbo. I am planning on upgrading the engines during testing to incrementally add more power while testing the platform out. I wasn't familiar with the shadow/ascot v-twin, learning about them now, looks like a nice engine, great sound. Thanks for the comment!!

@@matus1976 Oh man, that is lucky! I actually live here in Japan, and even on Yahoo auction, I can only find like 3 CX Turbo bikes for sale for like $5000 a piece, and maybe a couple engines and some spare parts. I got to thinking, how they kind of resemble BMW Flat-Twin engines a little, with the crank shaft parallel to the bike frame (longitudinal only V-Twin), unlike the shadow/ascot V-Twin that runs perpendicular. I wonder if the CX engines, non-turbo and alike would make nice light weight sport aviation experimental aircraft engines....Actually, BMW was originally an aircraft engine company and I think that is why the engine is still oriented on the motorcycles the same way piston aircraft engines are oriented. With the reputation that the original CX engines gained and rock solid specs even allowed to add the turbo chargers, I bet that they would make great Ultralight or sport aviation aircraft engines. I looked online and did not find any project that used them, though.
