Welcome Akira Bike Project and Recumbent / Feet Forward Motorcycle fans and the curious! In this video I get started on the assembly that reduces the engine output to drive that large real wheel and face some serious challenges.
Follow along while I'm designing and building a fully functional high performance recumbent (aka feet forward) motorcycle ready for production that is aesthetically inspired by Kaneda's ride in "Akira" in this ambitious motorcycle project.

Love your work - I hope lots of youngsters are watching & learning, no substitute for 'old school' test fit-problem solve-repeat - you could show this to engineering students & they would get more out of it than two days with their noses in dry books. Nice use of weld heat distortion to 'true up' the spline - I've done the same with weld repairs to damaged frames & the like. Much respect from the UK.

Great comment thanks! I couldn't agree more! It never ceases to amaze how complex things are once you actually start making things, especially when you are trying to hit 'common' tolerances of just a few thousandths of an inch.

It's an option for electric engine and battery on that frame or need major editing to be done ? All together can electirc engine power enoght and fit in to the that frame.

I plan on an all electric version and even a hybrid version, there's plenty of room because of the geometry of the bike, much more than a regular bike, and I have extra room in my prototype to experiment with, so there's plenty of room for electric motor and batteries. Not much modification would be needed, basically just new mounting brackets for whatever motor goes in there.
