In this part we show Rocco that a foot ball doesn't mean chase it !
So we worked on he's calmness and eye contact !
Just to remind everyone that Rocco did attend training classes and was failed by them and came out as you first sore in (part 1) so this is a major improvement
Hope you enjoy!

If u adopt say a 2 + yr old Akita ...it will need specialty training by YOU ..not some stranger. Doing the Petco training .. yelling , screaming could and probably will backfire ...on you!. This breed doesn't mess around. They are playfull in the first few yrs but then when they mature ...lol.. You have to earn their respect. And oh they don't fetch . 😁
@geoffreydollebalanceddogtr1669
They are great owners and they did take it to training classes but as he got a little bit excited the trainer push them to the side and left them to it so they stop as they felt let down by that trainer and when they seen some of my work they decided to give it a go and now he’s the awesome dog they always wanted! I’m glad you like the way I do things thank you!

Geoffrey you're a great trainer ! You're the best trainer I've seen with an akita. What's the name of the leash? I need to get one of those when I get my pup

I don't think so. I never used a choke collar on my akitas. Choke collars are for once the dog becomes aggressive. If the dog is not aggressive as in a pup, you use you use your voice with authority. I have never bought a choke collar in my life and I have had three males and one female with a male and female at the same time. Rocco is a pup and voice commands are good enough for him right now.

They dont take much time training ..very intelligent and intuitive breed amongst other things. Initial obiedience training and walking on leash is critical especially if u live in high populated areas. ......In the end these angels end up training you! ✌

@@cookiemonster-pq2vs Make sure he knows what "no" means even more. Also please exercise your Akita a lot. Once he is trained, find an empty field with no one around. Put him on a stay and build up to a football length. Call him and let him run as fast as he can to you several times. He needs stamina with that built. Also it keeps him strong, and leaner.

He is a good trainer because he follows through with the idea but any dog would give to the leash after being choked with it. Dogs respect the choke. It's the same in dog fights. What u see is a dog that's avoiding being choked, with time & practice they eventually transfer the respect to the human. If you pay attention he's following where ever the leash is pulled. He doesn't understand what is expected of him. This is just avoidance of getting choked.

Akitas have the best gait of any dog and Im starting to watch the female labradoodles gait. Theirs is really cute. An Akitas gait is awesome to watch.

BTW I never used a choke collar on my four akitas.
@geoffreydollebalanceddogtr1669
redman masonji this tool was needed at that time to reach the dog brain and let him know that I knew the same language so we can start to get communication flowing between us but I couldn’t do that without it as it was so unruly and used to hes bad habits!

Whenever I see videos of American Akitas being trained, they are very very calm Akitas. I have a beautiful nearly 2 years old Akita male and he is exactly as described in all character descriptions. He is loving and loyal at home, quiet in the garden but will absolutely not tolerate other dogs closer than 5 m. Male or female. I have been in training classes with him since puppy and will continue to do so but am am positive that he will never accept another dog in his territory (apart from our Max, a neutered Scandinavian Hound). What I want to say with this text is...the videos do not show the typical Akita - you may be lucky to get one like that but you may also get one like mine - the most beautiful dog in the world but a very demanding dog!

Ive noticed males are much more aggressive when their handler is a female. It was that way with me and my wife. Thats why I was sure she and my kid were safe when I was traveling. Mine would be aggressive to other dogs too..(its a breed thing)..but he would look to me for direction and not take the lead. ...unless something serious happens like a dog attacking etc.

Geoffrey, In the first video in this series you mentioned that if the dog wasn't doing it at age, just imagine what it will be like when he gets bigger. Well, I'm adopting a 2 year old akita and he is very rambunctious. You can tell that he's used to getting his way with previous owners. What is the best approach to take when trying to train him on the basics?
@geoffreydollebalanceddogtr1669
Walter Polk Jr. building a strong relationship is key and that he/she gets everything coming from you this mean paying attention giving focus pays teaching yes is a good start

the way this guy is holding the leash, is kinda hazardous. Hes doing great out here, but throw another dog around, lol..one finger will quickly change. all it takes is not seeing that one dog. amazing dogs though, love Akitas

Alright I don't want to make stupid choices but this is my first dog choice and I'm researching to see if it's right for me. What do you guys even mean special type of owner. I want a big dog people can think twice about kicking or stealing from me.
@kaedenjohnson4743
@kaedenjohnson4743 4 года назад
As with any breed you intend on adopting or purchasing, do your research! People say this breed isn’t a first time owner dog but that’s not true, if you are able to devote time, love, training, and patience to this breed then you should be fine. But research and being realistic is key to getting a dog like this. Find top tier breeders and acquire the best training for it; preferably training that has experience with breeds like this.
@kcorpora1
@kcorpora1 3 года назад
@@kaedenjohnson4743 It isn't a breed for the 1st time owner unless that person has studied the breed and have been around the breed. This breed should be: 1. socialized 2. Trained fully 3. Exercised and conditioned fully. Most important no one should come hugging the dog except family. Anyone else a quick pet and that is it. This dog is good looking. After training, I would taking to a field so he can sprint to to build stamina and to stay tight in body.
