I love how the Aklot logo looks A LOT like Metallica's logo. Afterall, they do have a bunch in common.

Beautiful as always. I still somewhat prefer my Donner at this point because of a metal bridge (And actual soft case), but otherwise they seem almost identical, but that's just good because if Donner runs out and a rampaging Krogan mauls my Lyre in a fit of ecstasy or something I can just get this one.
@SamanthaonMars
@SamanthaonMars 2 года назад
Haha! I like your sense of humor! One thing I like about Donner is their case. They have one of the most practical cases out there. I didn't know Donner had models with metal bridges. Mine was made of bone.

Oh my goodness please make videos about the donnor I have one but have difficulty finding videos with that instrument, it's very rare. I know this is odd to ask of you and you certainly don't have to but I would surely watch them.

If you don't mind me asking, are you still happy with your Donner? I'm currently trying to decide which lyre to go for, and so far the Donner appeals most to me.

@@Thablet The tuning pegs have actually slipped, and with some mental issues and other life problems O haven't touched it in a long time. I don't knownif it's a consistent Donner issue or simply unique though

@Voidling_System Thank you so much for your reply! I went for a different brand now, which seems a little sturdier in make. Thanks again and wishing you all the best, because, boy do I feel you on mental issues and life problems. D:

i hav a question, how do i make my lyre have a “deep? voice” i don’t like the stringy, high pitched sound that some lyres have. can i get the deeper fuller sound with a 10 string or do i need a 16 string? (hope that made sense
@SamanthaonMars
@SamanthaonMars 2 года назад
Hi. While a lyre with more strings has a bigger body and more potential for bass resonance, I think your question depends more on the strings themselves than on the number of strings. The thickness, tension, length, and type of strings can all affect the pitch. I would check the manufacturer's specifications for the default range of notes the lyre is designed for. For example, mine ranges from G3 (lowest) to A5 (highest). Ensure it's in a range you like. It also helps to watch videos of people playing the lyre so you know what it sounds like. Hope it helps!

Do you think this is a good lyre, for a complete beginner? This one seems to catch my eye the most
@SamanthaonMars
@SamanthaonMars 2 года назад
Yes, I think this is a great lyre for beginners. The number of strings (16) allows you to play a good variety of music. The strings are generously far apart so it's easy to pluck them. And the lyre is easy to hold. You may also find this video helpful where I compared 3 lyres: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-m3z4OBTDTDQ.html .

Is this lyre ok for me if I am left-handed?
@SamanthaonMars
@SamanthaonMars 2 года назад
Lyres are not advertised as left or right-handed, but some people may consider how the strings are arranged. There are 2 types of string arrangements. One has the notes go from low to high from left to right (just like in this video) so the lower notes are closer to you when playing upright. Another type goes in the opposite direction, so the higher notes are nearer to you. For harpists, the common way is to have the higher strings closer. They would consider the lower strings closer to be "left-handed" because that's how harps are. To me (not a harpist), it's just a matter of personal preference.
@diegomediavilla9016
@diegomediavilla9016 2 года назад
@@SamanthaonMars Or I can just buy the Deer model, since it is more or less symmetrical, and arrange the strings the way I feel more comfortable with 😆
@SamanthaonMars
@SamanthaonMars 2 года назад
@@diegomediavilla9016 If you don't mind the trouble, it's possible. Lower notes use thicker strings, and higher notes use thinner strings. If you wish to re-arrange the strings, you'll have to change all the strings. It can be a lot of work. It may be easier to just buy a lyre already set in the way you want. I'm sorry I don't know much about left-handed instruments. This article may be able to help you decide which lyre to get: www.reddit.com/r/lyres/comments/nhq1ta/are_there_left_handed_lyres_does_it_even_matter/ . Hope it helps!
