First run since 1961 of my good friend and fellow engine enthusiast's 1904 Hornsby Akroyd, 20 HP engine. We moved it from where he purchased it (with great difficulty) to his shed in April 2012 where he worked on it in his spare time and it was ready for it's eagerly awaited first run at the end of December 2012.

Well done Kevin, very proud, I don't know you master all the skills and work involved but you are restoring historical pieces and it has a certain musical hum. Congrats great work great achievement

It's a lovely engine to see and hear running. Great to see it going after such a long lay off. Thanks for watching and liking.

Very nice. I have a 1902 3 1/2 horse version of this one and I cant wait to hear it running as soon as I make a fuel pump and injector for it.

That can be organised. I'd say it would come to life straight away. Keep Her Lit.

Holy God...now THAT'S what I call an engine! Great to see and hear it run at last. I like the exhaust at 1:00,often wondered what NASA did with the old space suits...Fantastic video Kevin. I see "The Bumbleosopher" has his "good" jumper on...haha!

It started it's working life in Belfast and at some stage it was bought by a milling company in County Monaghan. The present owner bought it about a year ago. It's now located in county longford.

It sure is well worth watching Joseph. I will be setting up a channel for the owner of this engine and we will be putting up a video of starting and running it again soon I hope. I will let you know when it's on here. Regards..Kevin.

She's a big baby alright. My 50cc air cooled BSA would look small beside it. We thought the "NASA suit" might bring the fumes out the door for us but that plan ended with the first fire. That blue (and black) jumper has to be worn for starting any engine. It brings luck.

The exhaust turned out to be a bit of a laugh alright. The engine runs on Kerosene / Paraffin and it's a bump start and can also be started by compressed air.. The owner of the engine will be putting on a video of starting it and running it sometime soon, Thanks for watching.

A monster is probably the best way to describe it alright. Thanks for watching.

What a fantastic engine. Sounds great. How do you go about starting something like that? Good to see a video of it. I also love the exhaust pipe.

Hi Al. Nice engine indeed. Would be a bit big for behind the Passat I think. Would take p the hilly to move it.

Beautiful engine. Where is it located and where did it originally come from. Myself and my dad have one identical. Ours was one of a pair that powered the electrically opened swing bridge at Great Island, Wexford Ireland. I've been thinking for years about starting it. Thanks for the inspiration seeing this
