i honestly like when the legacy vids for YT have the actual arcade runs included. it's cool to hear him talk about it, but half of the fun is watching the insane BS that happens along the way.
@@JoshuaLowe-ci3woOni keeps his principles the most, probably. Though, it may go against his honor to fully give *all* of himself up to the Satsui No Hado like that. It's non-canon, isn't it? May prove the honor point.
5:36 Cyber Akuma Man, those rocket punches, those bigger fireballs, tge 11 Hit Combo Shoryuken, Double Air fireballs, his stronger Raging Demon AND his Air Raging Demon
Well not exactly in ps1 Anita from darkstalkers is secret playable character and Akuma appears in one one of her attacks so even he's not a playable character he's still in the game
Donovan has an attack where he summons an oni that uses a huge sword to do damage. Anita's version of that attack has the akuma sprite and a floating is donovan sword.@@EnzoPinheiro
XvsSF was the game that introduced me to Akuma for the 1st time, and then a guy Raging Demon me once and I thought it was the sickest super in the game, a guy at my school told me how to do it and BOOM
I could be wrong, but I remember the ps1 version of mvc lets you choose which ryu form to start the match with by holding down the start or select button during character select and loading screens.
X-men vs street fighter had Infinites for days. Loved that about the game. Supers were insane. Team up supers were awesome. The beginning of crossover glory for the next 5-7 years. Those were some fun times.
Edit- I literally pause the video and wrote this about one second before Max does. -- Marvel versus Capcom 1 had a form shift for Ryu that can turn him into Ken-ish and Akuma-ish color and actions
Would have been awesome to let people know that you can place your selection on akuma hold left or right and get him randomly and since you had your selection on akuma you just select him and now your playing with 2 akumas in X-Men vs Street Fighter
I remember in MVC, you could hold a specific button when choosing Ryu or before the fight begins, and you would then start the battle as Akuma or Ken, but without using a superbar 👍
To me the fun thing about Cyber Akuma and him feeling so lazy is, the lazier thing to do would’ve been to just reuse Zero Akuma from Cyberbots, and that would’ve actually looked cooler, but they took the time to make changes to his normal sprite to made Cyber Akuma. Like they could’ve just reused Zero Akuma and said he’s a new Sentinel based on Akuma.
I so wish the Shoto install came back in follow up games for Ryu. Yeah sure we got the characters themself sometimes, but I love to think of that being explained as Ryu's mastery of his fighting style. Tapping into the Dark Hado, his friendship and rivalry with Ken, his own methodology. on the fly, In the more recent games I could just imagine the sauce he could have being able to spend a bar to switch mid combo. Hell you could have it if he's already in 'normal' state if he does the normal switch that's what gets him Denjin install. I miss when they were willing to mix up/play with The World Warrior.
Yuri in kof 2001 is able to perform the rage demon with 2 bars, if she's lucky she turns her back at the end and takes 80% of the opponent's life bar, sick!
In the ps1 version of MvC there was a legit way to play as cyber Akuma and i remember i would turn the speed all the way up and it felt like you were playing a dragon ball game if you used him. Good times.
Xmen Vs Street fighter is one of favorites of the VS series. It has a very diverse roster for the number of characters, and is so much fun to play. I loved how Rogue could steal moves from all the regular cast, giving her a very unique moveset. (compared to the later games where she just gains a different stat from absorbing the other character.) Apocalyspe is such a cool last boss, as he has the booming voice from the animated series, giving him this threatening prescence.Sure he isn't that hard to beat, but the presentation is top notch for this game. I still play the crap out of it to this day. Marvel Vs Street Fighter really did feel phoned in compared to the true effort we saw in Xmen VS SF. When I first saw I wasn't sure was some sort of hacked version of the previous games. Cyber Akuma was a rough boss, but I learned how manhandle him as wolverine. (drill claw let's you stand on top of him especially when he does his airfireballs.) I'd basically beat the game with everyone paired with Wolverine as I'd wear them down and let the other character finish him off. The rooster for Mvs SF and MvC both started have too many shototypes. (even with Ryu replacing 3 of them.) MvC 2 obviously gets you all cast you'd ever want, but I feel like the 3 on 3 made the game messier as I liked the 2 on 2 set up better. They also removed the medium strength punches and kicks which never felt right to me.
I wonder how many other characters aside from Rogue have had access to a Raging Demon move. I know there's a handful, like most of the shotos for starters
Jeez, I think I still have my official X-Men vs Street Fighter strategy guide all these years later. And Rogue performing Akuma's moves is hilariously awesome. I will also confess as dumb as Cyber-Akuma is, I love him.
Cyber Akuma is playable on the PS1 Version of the game after beating him without using any continue. You have to highlight Akuma on the select screen and input 5x select and hit any button afterwards.
Pretty incredible how fast Capcom and SNK churned these games out in the late 90’s. On the other hand they released these all as separate games. Like MSHvSF was basically an update to XMvSF, though they changed up the roster quite a bit.
I just picked up XMVSF on Saturn a couple months ago! thankful that gouki/akuma is almost not a hidden character at all, haha. MVSF I remember on PSX even though it was a nerfed console port unlocking cyber akuma was pretty sick. would love to find the saturn version one of these days! MVC1 that's usually my thing just pick ryu and spend the bar on the akuma transform, since he's not actually in it! imported the DC version as well, I think I may need to fire it up again soon.
X-Men VS Street Fighter was kind of bonkers in the arcade. You could access the secret character by accident, and with a basic level of Street Fighter skill beat the game on one credit with any team (I've never played a cabinet where the owner turned the difficulty up). They seemed to know by that point that these machines would thrive on VS mode profits.
You actually can play as Mecha Akuma on the PS1 version of Marvel Super Heroes. you have to beat arcade without using any continues and on the character select screen go to Akuma and press select 5 times then select him. And yes he is broken.
Is it asking too much for a collection with: - X-Men Children of the Atom - Marvel Super Heroes - X-Men vs. Street Fighter - Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter - Marvel vs. Capcom - Marvel vs. Capcom 2 - Marvel vs. Capcom 3 - Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 I do think it's cool that in Marvel vs. Capcom, Ryu can transform into Ken or Akuma.
Ayo, its a game I played! Akuma and Ryu, Team Beam Dream Scene! Though in MvC1 I ran either Ken or Dan instead of Akuma (for obvious reasons (Can't have 3 Kens))
You should be able to play both cyber akuma and apocolypse in the ps1 version of marvel super heroes vs street fighter. I think you just have to beat arcade once and put in a code.
