Seeing Akuma at Cyberbots is downright awesome to look at. He has that Mazinger design, and it came a year before X-MEN Vs Street Fighter. Before Cyber Akuma came along. Surreal how the Akuma mod in the original RE2 fit well with his ending in this game. Islam was the original Religion descended to earth from heaven with Adam and Eve (peace and blessing be upon them) in the beginning of humanity. and was passed to people with the succession of the 124 000 prophets and 315 messengers of God to all nations and civilizations since, passing by Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Ismaël, Joseph, Moses, Aaron, Joshua, David, Solomon and Jesus (Peace and blessing be upon them) during the history of mankind, the last replaces and completes the previous, until the succession of the last messenger of God fourteen centuries ago, Muhammad (Peace and blessing be upon him) to complete the noble morals of all mankind, to bring humans and jinns out of darkness into light, and to purify people's religion and belief from corruption and polytheism, and return it to purity and true monotheism, like it was in the times of the prophets (Peace and blessing be upon them). Many Religions that we know nowadays, at their beginning were true and under Islam, initiated by one of the prophets of God, but their original teachings, history and scriptures have been corrupted over time with falsification and polytheism, or lost and replaced with false ones. That's why Islam is the only Religion accepted by God nowadays, which consists in bearing witness that there is no god besides Allah (God in Aramaic, the original language of Jesus and the Gospel), and that Muhammad is His servant and messenger, just like Jesus and Moses and others are His servants and messengers. Never a messenger of God said he was God or literally son of God, it was the people after him who changed the words of God and corrupted the Religion. God is unique and absolute, He does not need to have a family and sons or to associate anyone else with His kingdom, He can simply create whatever He wants, everything belongs to Him, and to Him everything will return. Allah said in Surah Al-Mu’minun : “God has never begotten a son, nor is there any god besides Him. Otherwise, each god would have taken away what it has created, and some of them would have gained supremacy over others. Glory be to God, far beyond what they describe. The Knower of the hidden and the manifest. He is exalted, far above what they associate. (91-92 / Translated by ITANI). Allah means the one and only God, the God of all prophets and creatures, the creator of the universe and mankind, and the Master of the Day of judgment, where our destiny, Hell or Paradise, is decided based on our faith and deeds in this trial life, and above all, Allah's mercy. Allah said in Surah Al-Ikhlas : In the name of God, the Gracious, the Merciful. Say, “He is God, the One. God, the Absolute. He begets not, nor was He begotten. And there is none comparable to Him.” (1-4 / Translated by ITANI). Allah said in Surah An-Nisa : O FOLLOWERS of the Gospel! Do not overstep the bounds [of truth] in your religious beliefs, and do not say of God anything but the truth. The Christ Jesus, son of Mary, was but God's Apostle - [the fulfilment of] His promise which He had conveyed unto Mary - and a soul created by Him. Believe, then, in God and His apostles, and do not say, "[God is] a trinity". Desist [from this assertion] for your own good. God is but One God; utterly remote is He, in His glory, from having a son: unto Him belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is on earth; and none is as worthy of trust as God. Never did the Christ feel too proud to be God's servant, nor do the angels who are near unto Him. And those who feel too proud to serve Him and glory in their arrogance [should know that on Judgment Day] He will gather them all unto Himself: (171-172 / Translated by Muhammad Asad). Allah the Most Merciful said in Surah Ali-Imran : Behold, the only [true] religion in the sight of God is [man's] self-surrender unto Him; and those who were vouchsafed revelation aforetime took, out of mutual jealousy, to divergent views [on this point] only after knowledge [thereof] had come unto them. But as for him who denies the truth of God's messages - behold, God is swift in reckoning! Thus, [O Prophet,] if they argue with thee, say, "I have surrendered my whole being unto God, and [so have] all who follow me!" - and ask those who have been vouchsafed revelation aforetime, as well as all unlettered people, "Have you [too] surrendered yourselves unto Him?" And if they surrender themselves unto Him, they are on the right path; but if they turn away - behold, thy duty is no more than to deliver the message: for God sees all that is in [the hearts of] His creatures. Verily, as for those who deny the truth of God's messages, and slay the prophets against all right, and slay people who enjoin equity - announce unto them a grievous chastisement. I had never bought into the Excell Saga running gag (so dangerously, terribly, horrifyingly cute!) until I encountered this game. Back in 2005/6 my friend and I discovered Super Gem Fighter for the first time. never heard of it before. We screwed around with character transformations and just taking in all of the cuteness and funny callbacks. Soon though, we got a feel for the game and started to play for real, putting thoughts of cuteness to the side. Then his Sakura pulled off her super against me (big burly men dragging me off-screen to do loony-tunes violence). The sheer adorableness somehow caught me by surprise and caused my brain to shut down. I couldn't play again after that. 10/10 game!
Those are original Resident Evil 1 weird headed, green jacket with brown pants zombies in that Akuma Pocket Fighter ending. Which makes it all the weirder that Capcom still to this very day has not put Akuma in a Resident Evil game. From Resident Evil 4 onward, every RE game that’s had The Mercenaries, or some more like it, it’s just like of like “what are you doing?” when Akuma isn’t some secret unlockable character in there.
Z-Akuma is basically the fusion dance of the OVA version Giant Robo and Akuma himself. He even has the Z in the name to prove he's as super as the og super robot Mazinger Z!
The potential RE2 tie-in is funny to think about, but considering what stage asset the reuse for Akuma’s ending, my head-canon is that Hsien-Ko got sick of Lord Raptor bugging her and decided to just sick Akuma on the poor bastard.
Pocket Fighters is living proof that Dark Stalkers characters can perfectly exist in Street Fighter just like what they did with the Final Fight characters. We need Dark Stalkers to be remember in some way.
Pocket Fighter's "Epilepsy Demon" was the first variation ever where you could see there's strikes being inflicted on the opponent. I never knew if it was canon or not until V. Looking back, I'm surprised there wasn't a secret Akuma fight in MegaMan X4 or 8.
Better yet, Hsien Ko takes him back to the forest outside the mansion in RE1, where's captured by Wesker and taken in to the Umbrella facility we see him escape from in RE2.
Really enjoying these Akuma Legacy videos. His arrival was during the era I was madly in love with fighting games, so it's been fun revisiting so many games I've touched in that time.
Akuma being in goofy games and goofy situations but refusing to be goofy himself is such a good bit. This man has the same face no matter what he does, whether comedy, swimming or selling fruit. I want to see Akuma do a hundred different mundane things while never emoting one bit. Akuma cleaning his giant monstermech by superjumping up and scrubbing it sounds like a good start.
I remember my brother showing me his playthroughs of Pocket Fighter on Dreamcast in the 2000s and the "endless mode" on a port on... I believe his PS3 and got me to play it. Still can't learn shit other than a fireball but GOD, the game is great! I don't need to say much about Cyberbots. Giant mechs of all shapes and sizes (not unlike Gundam) but in a fighting game! It's just so sick and hopefully it can scratch the itch of most enjoyers of the mecha genre. It's no secret that Akuma is WILDIN'.

the best part about akuma is any game he's in he's just street fighting, tekken a game with hardly any projectiles and akuma comes in spamming safe fireballs. akuma mixing up gameplay is great the only reason i tried tekken 7 is i knew if all else failed i could just play akuma like street fighter,, luckily noctics was button mashie with great tools

It still slays me that Akuma, the man who takes fighting super seriously, does all the silly Pocket Fighter transformation attacks while Ryu (the white bread-est guy ever) doesn't. Oh, and some random trivia for anime fans. Cyberbots is obviously heavily influenced by giant robot anime, primarily Gundam. In fact, Capcom cemented the reference by hiring Tohru Furuya, the voice of Gundam's Amuro Ray, to play Jin Saotome. However, when Jin made the jump to MvC the role was recast with Yuji Ueda, who played another mech anime protagonist: Akito Tenkawa from Martian Successor Nadesico.
Cyberbots is related to a Capcom beat'em up called Powered Gear/Armored Warriors as the mechs came from there, but the universe and characters are different
I used to rent Super Puzzle Fighter 2 Turbo every single time I saved up enough money to do so. I always regretted never being able to afford the actual game.
I'd love to hear Max's thoughts of Akuma in Capcom Vs SNK 2. It's probably a hot take, but I think thats my favourite version of him (and some of the other SF characters). I'll never forget how annoyingly tough it was to beat Shin Akuma and the joy I felt once I finally did.
Rumour has it that if you beat Resident Evil 2 Remake in less than 40', you can unlock Akuma as a playable character. He doesn't use weapons, only martial arts - he can even kill Mr. X!
