We even saw him on TV while we were having dinner. We Germans love this humor because we know very well that we would never talk the way Al did ourselves. His manner gave us the most wonderful entertainment. And through Al we knew ... if you feel bad, think about how Al is. And then we were fine again. Let's face it Al Bundy was relentless with his insults. Al Bundy was my hero back in the day. Always referring to Marcy as either a chicken or a boy. And Al roasting all those fat people always had me rolling on the floor laughing. And nowadays Al Bundy is needed more than ever.

Married With Children was ground-breaking when it came out, and in a large part due to Ed O'Neil, who played Al Bundy. Just an epic character in the show. Ed also had a forever impact on Modern Family with his portrayal of Jay Pritchett for 11 seasons.

When Married With Children first aired my mother absolutely hated it... After it went off the air and we started watching the reruns she started to love the show... We would watch it every time it was on

Thanks for the reaction. On Married with Children, there used to be a dog that talked over the episode. I like the episode, where Al Bundy and son go hunting in the country and a bear returns with them to the city, hidden in the trunk of the car. The Bundy family do not know this, but the dog does. The dog says to the audience in the talkover: "Ordinarily, I would tell them about the bear in the trunk, but they haven't fed me in two weeks, so the hell with them." Stay safe!

The "I would say it behind your back but my car only has a half a tank of gas" is actually quite hysterical and brutal. Al was literally saying that the woman was so fat that he would have to drive around her spending a good amount of gasoline just to trash talk her.

Best comedy family show ever!!

To me Al Bundy's best insult is when he talks to the vice principal of his daughter's school and tells her "come on, remember when you were a young girl? You know roaming the plains with the other buffalo?"

My favorite Al Bundy-ism is when Peggy thought he was cheating on him. When she told him so, he said to her "But Peg, what have always told you? Why go out for milk, when you got a cow at home?"

My generation grew up around that humor and i think it made us better overall. Not hyper sensitive or so easily offended as folks are today. I guess we just had thicker skins, but we had a lot more fun!

All of the women in the shoe shop scenes were comedians that had great senses of humor.

Walmart has a dvd boxed set of “Married With Children” with every single episode for $25. You really can’t beat that. It’s well worth buying because pretty much every episode had this type of brutal humor, although the first 6 years were the best. If you think this show is shocking in 2021, you can just imagine how shocking it was when it premiered in April of 1987. I was in high school at the time, the show was on on Sunday nights, and you knew Monday morning at school everyone would be talking about it. There were also a lot of people who were very offended by it, especially religious leaders, and they wanted it taken off the air. The negative publicity actually caused a media frenzy and caused millions more to watch the show to see what all the fuss was about. It was on for 10 years and for most of that time it was in the top 10.

The actor that played Al Bundy went home one day after a shoot at the beginning of this series and told his wife that he didn't know if he had what it took to play such a horrible and disgusting character. Thank god he digged deep and did what he had to do for all of us.

The explosion of popularity outpaced the backlash. If they had internet back in those days, people would likely organize against it much faster, it may have never happened. I think this kind of show will only come around again in a different country that has less censorship, maybe the popularity will explode again and it will go international in success.

Married with Children is my favorite sitcom of all time. I have every single season available on DVD. Yes DVD back in the 80’s and 90’s was either VHS (80’s) DVD (90’s) great show. Should be on Netflix check em out and start from season one and move your way up. You won’t be disappointed 🤣
