@@mysonandme8424 There are the same number and kind of "sensitive people" as always. You have to be literally a child to believe it's new. People tried to get The Simpsons thrown off the air because Bart said something "sucks." They tried to get Elvis Presley banned for swaying his hips. They tried to ban rap and metal in the '80s for using curse words and mentioning reality. And spoiler alert, sometimes they succeeded. Radio or TV affiliates wouldn't play something; or there were warnings played before an episode or song; "explicit lyrics" labels and ratings systems are their doing. Censored versions of songs and TV episodes are their doing. FCC content restrictions are their doing. From decades before you were born. And none of it is logical or ethical in any way, it's just because of their idiotic feelings. So get over yourself. The struggle against stupidity is eternal.

Here’s what people your age seem to miss about these shows. They were revealing the social problems, including racism by showing with humor how stupid racism is!! Archie Bunker was on a journey that ended with him adopting a Jewish niece and he changed because he had the opportunity to interact with people who were different from him. Archie learned to be a better human being because of that. All in the Family wasn’t glorifying or endorsing Archie’s opinions, it resonated with people because they had people in their lives who acted like Archie and it gave people the courage to talk about some of the most and social problems of the day. Thousands of discussions were sparked in families who would sit and watch the show every week. You cannot judge the show by today’s standards. That is just like taking a statement completely out of context which can change the meaning and intent. This was the first show to address racism of all kinds, abortion, homosexuality and even included a cross dressing character who taught Archie a lesson about treating everyone fairly and helped Archie move a little but closer to being a better person. All of these people helped him grow and change,

The show was on TV for 11seasons and was the new Fox networks first sitcom. Back then some parts of the country couldn't even see the show because the new network lacked the affiliate base of other channels. It also didn't have successful shows preceding it to piggyback off of. The fact that this show would be off limits these days shows how much freedom we have lost due to censorship since then..

This show was a riot! I could not believe (at the time) how inappropriate it was. I was young then, but I still knew this, even without my mom screaming at us to "turn the channel." Viewers were angry at how raunchy this show was and insisted it be taken off air. In hindsight, I think that was the whole point of the show. We weren't supposed to learn heartwarming, profound lessons. We were supposed to laugh and appreciate that we aren't as trashy and morally bankrupt as the Bundy family. They say everything we sometimes wish we had the nerve to say!

I'm 59 and grew up with those shows. None of those 70s and 80s shows should be cancelled in the current day. That's the problem with current culture and TV programming. People are way too sensitive and snowflakey today, and so they just have to cancel every single thing that they don't like. Now Married w/ Children is just mostly crude. It doesn't have any social redeeming value. But I don't have to watch it. I don't need to cancel it.

The Simpsons which started around the same time as married with children, would of been non existent in early 70's, appalling to the masses because of Bart 's character in particular ( a kid allowed to talk so rude), but was a hilarious show that i enjoyed when i could.

Marfied with Children was originally titled Not the Cosby Show or something like that because it was a direct fire on all the goody goody sitcoms up until that point. The Bundy’s were a cartoonish parody of real life. They were the first of their kind & definitely challenged the censors back in 89 when they debuted. One week, a disgruntled lady(known as Karens these days) wrote & complained about the shows vulgarity but it only made the show more popular. They lasted what, about 11 years & at one time was the longest running sitcom in America. I live it & why I don’t fir in today’s weak ass society. Well fighting in Iraq & a two year prison stint also destroyed my filter too.

The reason Al Bundy and mean characters like that were able to get away with things like this is because they always got their come uppances. What they don't show in these clips is later when he would get his. Usually Marcy would bust him or Peg and the kids would ruin his fun or in one episode a coalition of the over weight women tied him up. His life was always bad and he never , ever won. Except when he scored 4 touchdowns n a single game in high school of course! Same with Louis De Palma on Taxi. That's what's missing in today's characters. Sheldon Cooper is terrible to his friends and gets away with it. He's a bully. Al was once sent to Hell but the devil sent him back because his suffering was worse in the real world, lol! And yet, this guy never cheated on his wife and never ran out on his kids. Who by the way were all terrible!

All these amazing actors from the 60s - the 80' maybe some 90's had the amazing gift of making the audience laugh at themselves . Now days the people are super hypersensitive like spoiled crybabies who went and constantly tattletaled on every single time anybody said or did anything that didn't meet their approval. This world is full of spoiled babies who now carry the title of narcissist and Karens. Y'all need to lighten up and enjoy life . Be happy no matter what life throws at you . Let the comedy be a lesson on how to enjoy the funny

no way this would make it now but Marcy wrote a lot of the jokes which makes her banter with Al even more funnier and large women comedians were a part of the show and they were totally fine with the jokes but hell no not now

They got cancelled because the networks lost their spine.Thats the pattern for all the ones that were popular but got cancelled.

People had a sense of humor back in the day. A lot of shows couldn’t be done these days.

Every show you mentioned is still on the air and there doesn't seem to be a problem them.

I'll add SOAP as another 70s show that wouldnt fly today (too raunchy). Especially with Billy Crystal playing a flamboyant gay man.

You fellas do realize we are dealing with the same crap today as then? What made the time great was the fact that we had been allowed to laugh about it and make open fun of the stupid crazy of the times. We have far more messed up crud today than way back then and nobody is allowed to just Laugh about it.
