If my siblings and I closed our eyes and listened to our big brother sing Al Green songs we couldn't tell him from the artists he was that talented. I miss my big brother and pray you're resting easy 😔
Because of this song I’ll always feel connected to my dad❤️ He literally will play it over and over. I didn’t understand his pain as a child but As an adult, I got you Dad!
I know you're feeling I miss my daddy too I used to listen with him too if it wasn't for my daddy I don't know where I'd be today he taught me how to run over equipment and I'm chasing it to this day he never got to travel because he had to take care of us but I'm doing the traveling for him now I'll chase that iron from here to Timbuktu
Belle... The Lord and I have been friends for a mighty long time Belle... Leaving him has never ever really crossed my mind Let me say just one thing... I'd never go so far cause it's Him no matter who you are Belle... oh it's you that I want, but it's Him that I need (I'd like to take a minute) just to say now... Belle... Belle... the laughter of the sound has quieted down Belle... The best thing we could do is have Him around Let me say this one thing... I think if love could've found my heart was lost but now it's found Belle... Let's you and I let the love come down I'm so happy... let me say this... It seems so easy to me I've tried to act naturally Let's not waste each other's time Belle... Lord, He's my surprisin', my pride and my joy, Belle... I know that you can understand This little country boy (I'm just a country boy) Belle... He brought me safe thus far... (Let me say this to you lady...) through many drunken country bars Oh, let me say, He's my bright morning star Belle.. He's my bright morning... My everything... Belle... Belle... Belle... I know you're all of these things girl ya, but He's such a brighter joy... He's! He's! He's! Jesus is my! My everything! My everything! In the morning (time) In the evening (time) In the daytime In the nighttime... He's my everything, yeah! Belle... Belle..
My mother Carolyn would come home 2:00 o'clock in the morning, put on some Al Green, nice and loud and wake everybody up ;I miss you mother 10 ward New Orleans La. Thomas project -you heard me
If you ain't listened to this song round 4:32am, riding up thru "Old South Memphis"after leaving Hollywood Raiford's(R.I.P.) dollar bill still full,Mack joint burning, pulling up to the "Madea nem"bootleg house on Trigg, hoping Browns BBQ ain't crowded..... you really missed out on a experience mane YA HERR ME #memphismademane
How absolutely beautiful is that opening? I'm not religious myself, but this is such an incredibly powerful song, and I really respect the message in it.
For lyrics : Belle, The Lord and I have been friends for a mighty long time Belle, Leaving him has never ever really crossed my mind Let me say this one thing I'd never go so far Cause it's Him no matter who you are Belle, Oh it's you that I want, but it's Him that I need (I'd like to take a minute) just to say now, Belle, The laughter of the sound has quieted down Belle The best thing we could do is have Him around I'm no planning to leave Let me say this one thing, I think if love could've found My heart was lost and now it's found Belle Let's you and I let the love come down I'm so happy, let me say this, It seems so easy to me, oh, oh, oh I've tried to act naturally Let's not waste each other's time Belle Lord, He's my surprisin', my pride and my joy, Belle I know that you can understand This little country boy (I'm just a little country boy) Belle He brought me safe thus far (Let me say this to you lady) Through many drunken country bars Belle, Oh, let me say, He's my bright morning star Belle, Belle He's my bright morning, his my bright morning My everything, my everything Belle, Belle, I know you're all of these things girl Ya, but He's such a brighter joy, He's! Belle, Belle, Belle, Belle, Belle Belle, Belle, Belle, Belle
The LORD and I been friends for mighty long time, Belle beautiful song I just love Al Green he always give it His All . GOD bless him and keep him in JESUS name. Love You Al Green !!!
Possibly his greatest. When he hits that high falsetto, it is transcendent. I don't know of any of his other songs where he just goes for it like he does on this song. And the subject matter is definitely unique.
I love this song I play it over and over its my sanctify song it makes me so joyous and it brings the Hallauegha out of new.it allows me to praise God to the fullest
There's no mistaking of his praise for the Lord...past...and through each grace he's giving blessings too....TAKE MY HAND BELLE...THE LORD WILL ALWAYS BE WITH US!!!!
Same here brother Michael kiddo I,m crying right now as I comment on yours take care of yourself and your family and keep god in your life it,s the best thing for us all .
I never meant to be an Al Green fan. While having a cup of coffee at a 5 and dime Belle came over the intercom. Can't help it; I'm hooked. Thank you. AL Green.
I used to come home from school back in the 70s and sometimes I would walk in the house and my Dad would be jamming to Earth, Wind,& Fire and all kinds of "good music"! TMc
I've been a fan of Al Green since back up train that was in the 60s I met him 4 * since then but I didn't know until recently the song Belle was a religious song somebody told me and then they worded it to me by saying Bell ifyou that I want but him that I need him meaning the Lord
That's the dilemma that many men face trying to serve God. Lustful passion for a woman but realizing that the need for God is greater than the lust he feels for her. I love that song and that concept.
Yes, I believe it was like 1968, on a different label than Hi Records. A lot of people think I'm so Tired of being alone was his first hit, but Back up Train got him started. Tired of being alone was his first hit with Hi records, when he hooked up with Willie Mitchell and Ernest Jackson; the rest is history.
This song takes me waiting back in the seventies when I was young I grew up the Al Green and the music that he sings is from his heart will always love Al Green may you stay forever
My mother Carolyn used to come home at 2:00 o'clock in the morning put some Al Green on nice and loud and wake everybody up. I love you and I miss you mother thanks for being in my life.
His greatest song and one of the most beautiful song ever written. I can't think of a reason why it wouldn't be more popular other than people want to mindlessly discard religion.
