Al needs Griff's help to win a radio competition he's been banned from!
From Married With Children, Season 10 Episode 26, 'Torch Song Duet'. There's a radio contest open to all (except Al), where the winner will get to carry the Olympic torch through the city. Griff wins it and becomes a local hero.

About Married with Children:

I’m totally surprised that their shoe store is still in business the way they both offend their customers so much, with Al constantly making fun of fat women and Griff hitting on the customers the way he just did 😂

@@Anthyrion oh without a doubt Jefferson made a great character for the show as well. Al needed a neighbor who understood him. Steve was great too because he often provided the straight man role in the comedy

The best part of this is later on when Griff gets the prize, Al is pretending to be "Alfredo Alfonso", a mute, and Bud comes in, starts saying "you're not the Al Bun...." and Al jumps up screaming gibberish and throws Bud into the stock room, lol.

You know they actually had the games in Atlanta the year this ep aired (1996). One of my favorite ep too & it shows why Griff was such an important character in MWC's later seasons This ep also predicted the fate of Bruce Jenner!

Dexter was a sub for Aaron in the 8th season. Maybe if the actor who played Dexter had agreed to come back, he'd have been there, but I think he didn't want to, so they created the Griff character.

There were actually two boxers with the same name. The one who you are refering to was Tadeusz who was a prison of several German concentration camps between 1940-1945 and he fought there with prisoners and camp personel. And yup he was somebody. Zbigniew Pietrzykowski who lost in 1960 to Cassius started boxing after the war. Just making it clear :) Nice to see this reference in the MWC though... also nice that you know the other boxer story
