Americans need to stop using the word cheap.......the actual production of most perfume is 6 to 10 dollar, unlike the West the Middle East doesn't sell at high prices that all.
Well you clearly have no notion about economics and labour costs. People that work in France can t live with the same amount of money that people in middle east can. Also you pay for the artist s creativity and mastermind that put togheter the unique fragnance that the others just copy. Clone houses won t be able to do nothing without inspiration from the real houses.
I bought a new bottle of Layton a few months ago, it's the reformulated version with 82% alc. and the batch code (2021321) tells me it was made in January 2022. Now I've had some decants of Layton (2019 & 2020 batches) that smelled better than Detour Noir, although Detour Noir comes very close. But compared to my new bottle of Layton, Detour Noir smells WAY better. My new Layton smells artificial, and has bad performance. Honestly be very careful about buying the new 82% alc. Layton batches, I don't know any other 82% batches apart from mine, but mine is absolutely awful. Don't buy the January 2022 Layton batch (2021321) guys, Detour Noir is like 10% the price and smells BETTER, and much closer to old Layton batches...
I have the same fragrance and its so much different. Gourmand vanilla and helitrope for sure but the opening is heavy on something I would say is eucalyptus. That stays the whole way. I could wear this in summer because its fresh sweet. Very astonishing. The “downside” is longevity and projection. Its so potent and long lasting, especially on clothes, that I kinds get sick of it after a few hours of work. It’s a beast. Ladys love it, very very much. So if that is what your looking for - go for it. This one is absolutely and insanely high quality and stunning.
@@A.mahdi0 Detour Noir is amazing! The sweet vanilla - woody- spices work well together. It last maybe 6-7 hours on skin and little longer on clothes. Definitely mass appealing!! I'm letting mines sit and macerate for a month and see if it improves. I'm so happy to add this fragrance to my collection.👍👌
Got this today, listened to a few reviewers no one picked up on the eucalyptus that you mentioned and it seems like one of the most prominent things at least to my nose.
Agreed. 80% is about right. With the cost of Layton and the longevity lately, this is a solid alternative that won't break the bank. I have found that later iterations of Layton do not seem to have the longevity and the projection they once did. Sadly I feel PDM is going the way of many other houses. Once sething gets popular and establishes a following, they tend to dilute their fragrances either by way of lesser ingredients or fewer of them. Naturally this is done in order to increase profit margins.
Totally agree with you, i bought a new version of layton, the one with more alcohol and it doesn't have that same dry down, longevity, projection. Its a sad time to buy laytons. I fear that in a future not far away layton will become like aventus where we look for specific batches and pay ridiculous prices foe them.

@@sarkermahmud first of all, what makes you assume I'm an American? Second of all, what does my nationality have to do with anything? Third of all I never used the word "cheap". And finally, and most importantly, your comment is not relevant to the point I was making.
Layton is becoming the new creed, as in we will be looking for those really good batches. The new laytons are not the same. Ever since they changed to more alcohol volume. The projection and drydown are not the same

Ima go ahead and get this to see, my 2017 batch of Layton ran out, but I bought a new batch and it’s horrible PDM is now on the path to follow Creed’s batch variations! PDM wants more money as they’ve gotten tons of hype
Hi Just a quick question is it Detour noir that you have or Detour noir Arabian? I want to purchase it but want to make sure I get the PDM Layton clone. when I go to the Al Haramain website the detour noir has a slight blue tint but the Arabian has a yellow tint.all the reviews I watch the liquid has a yellow tint to it but nobody is saying weather it is Arabian or not.
@@anthonylovedale486 as far as I'm aware there's only Detour Noir and Detour Noir Rouge, I haven't seen anything about a Detour Noir Arabian, maybe they're just titling it with the production location?
All those BIG NAMES in the game are getting BLURRED with the time and it's hard for me to pay such amount for a perfume cost my LEG AND ARM and perform like an average perfume. Those dupes are these days getting Bater and Bater. Good for me😏✌️
This fragrance is really nice. The scent reminds me of the color English red. On the other hand, it does not have that dark balsamic and heavy woodsy quality of Layton
Hi thank you for making this. I have had the opportunity to own both versions of layton the 78% and the new formulation 82%. While the 78% is a beast mode projection fragnance and projects so well , the newer version is barely a skin scent and there's also a slight change in the opening with that menthol note gone. I wish PDM had never reformulated it :(
I purchased a tester 100ml bottle from Joma Shop for $22.00. I wanted to try it out first before getting into the Niche fragrances. This Detour Noir reminded me of Elixirs that are currently our on the market.
Ridiculous that people spend so much on Parfums de Marly,Creed,Tom Ford, etc. when the clone companies are making fragrances like this for a fraction of the $.
This video is very confusing to me cuz I get amazing performance with this fragrance. I get better performance with this than Layton not saying they smell exactly the same but I just feel this video is misleading!!!!
@Rick Ayers Jr I felt the same way. I was like 😲!! I just ordered a bottle of Detour Noir a few days ago. I heard great things toward this fragrance. I heard it was much closer than 80% and performs well. I guess I will see for myself in a few days when I get my bottle of Detour Noir.
Need to do a 10 year anniversary as a fragrance reviewer and show some old clips from the past let people know you been doing this shit for a long time
Silly question but is this detour noir or detour noir Arabian ? I want to buy this as it’s very close to PDM layton but I don’t have PDM layton money.I just want to make sure I purchase the right one.
Hi Steven are you a big fan of clones,me not really, if I don't have enough money to buy an original big bottle,I buy a small decant but I prefer the original especially a niche perfume
@And One That would be a nice review 👍. I have Turati blue and it is one of my new favorites. It last 8 hours on my skin and days on clothes. That grapefruit smell and the dry down is wonderful 👌. A great buy imo.
@@Redolessence thanks for your response. Is it due to import laws of European union or in general?(indeed I checked their website but couldn't find anything about it, do u have reference for that?)
@Chase green Good to know..I just ordered a bottle of Detour Noir a few days ago. I was a little through back after seeing this review. Ive heard great things about this fragrance.
@@NoName-fv5oo I bought it from notino a few days ago and it has decent longevity, the thing is a lot of people usually go nose blind quite quickly. I could still smell it on my jumper the next day.
@@minhajuddin1769 Yh I was thinking I maybe could have gone nose blind to it ? Should be mentioned I haven’t smelled PDM layton before so no idea and I actually can smell it on my clothes the next day .
@@minhajuddin1769 Thing is I brought 3 bottles lol so £50+ if it was only one I would be ok with it . Have you had compliments ? Would you say you can use it as a signature scent or only date night ? Etc
This smells like Bentley for men which I absolutely loathe. My wife hates it. If PDM smells like this I’m glad I didn’t waste my money. Absolutely vile.
