My good friend Allan has a stock 1994 Mustang GT convertible with a 5 spd. Al mentioned that the car was no longer fun to drive, and the fuel economy was terrible. Plugged catalytic converters, or zero dollar fix?
I just wanted to CONFIRM that my Son was having the same issue on his 1994 Mustang V6. He was having an acceleration problem in 2nd gear and at about 3,500 RPMs, it would cut out and fall on its face. He has also been getting terrible gas mileage. We watched the video and I had him take apart his entire air intake back to the engine head and clean every piece as if he was going to eat off of it, then he gently and carefully cleaned the Mass Airflow Sensor with Q-Tips and Electrical Cleaning spray, which was BARELY dirty on one side, compared to the CAKED one in the video! After he put in a new STP air filter as well, he put everything back together, and I told him "Take it out for a Test Drive, but I'm not very optimistic that it's going to fix everything, only because your Mass Airflow Sensor was barely dirty compared to the CAKED one on the video! He wasn't that far down the country road below our house and he called me SUPER PUMPED that he had all kinds of acceleration now and NO more issues! 😁 So if you are having an acceleration problem, I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND following the video and cleaning your Mass Airflow Sensor, then watch how it gets up and GOES! We won't know if the gas mileage improved yet, but THANK YOU for a GREAT video! 👊

At first, we thought Al had plugged catalytic converters. It's amazing how something so small could affect the car. And he wasn't even running an oiled air filter. Hope this helps you out!!!👍👍
I had my eyes on a 84 gt(foxbody)...same thing,seller told me he cant ger the car to rev past 3500rpm...im no mechanic and i was afraid to make him an offer since i couldnt figure it out myself..toughts?
Hello NB, Since the 84 has a carburetor, i would check to see if it has catalytic converters, see if they are plugged. Also, check your fuel pressure and fuel filter, and I would also check the Duraspark ignition module. If you could try a different one, see if the problem still exists. I would have fuel delivery at the top of my list of things to check...but there definitely could be other items for sure...
Pretty much any car running a K&N or similar filter or one that hasn't had the air meter cleaned ever is susceptible. Thanks for watching...hope this helps.👍

@@306foxbody1 that’s what it was got home today pulled it out wasn’t really that dirty but cleaned it anyway revs like crazy now, haven’t took it out yet but can tell the difference already thanks,
