What a treat to see Al and hear him sing and joke around. He sounds as great as ever and he stayed after the show to sign autographs and take pictures and just hang out talking. With fabulous Dave Nachmanoff on guitar!!!
Watch the whole show, it is a wonderful time: • Al Stewart Unplugged -...

You know, if God looked down upon me and gave me the gift of mastery in one music or style, I think I'd choose Spanish guitar. There is just something about the sound... an evocative sense of emotion and place that very few other instruments can duplicate.

Saw Al many years ago at the Dominion Theatre, London. Fantastic show, and Al was a witty raconteur. Despite his international success, he is still very underrated in my opinion: a brilliant lyricist/poet- I liken him to Dylans quiet brother who went to Oxford. Dont ask me why.

First concert I ever went to was Al Stewart. My older brother broke up with his girl so I got to go. It was in Phoenix-- maybe 1976 or so. The Celebrity Theatre had a revolving stage that decided that night to break down. The concert was delayed while they tried to fix it. Finally Al comes out talking about getting "top Soviet and Chinese technicians" to work on the problem-- just cracking jokes. Anyway, they finally gave up, pointed the stage in one direction and did the concert. First song played was "On the Border".

Al is just so great! I actually got to meet him back in 1997. His music is just so unique with so much substance, both musically and lyrically. I like lyrics that actually say something and you can't beat Al for that!! So what if his commercial success was/is minimal. I can hardly stand to listen to most current day commercially successful music. Al and company are wonderful!!

Al Stewart had a few guitar lessons from Robert Fripp back in the day and came away with a quite amusing story about the good Mr. Fripp. I wonder if he ever tells this tale when he performs thesedays . . . Cheers!

Nachmanoff reminds me of Tom Hanks, but probably his guitar playing is different. Last year I took near Burgos a dozen of pictures from a spanish roadside brothel. How about this title for a parody : In the Brothel
