Mr. Al Wilson was never on the Motown Label. This release was issued on the "Rocky Road Records"label - Started life in 1971 as the Carousel label, but changed their name to Rocky Road shortly after releasing their first hit record, due to a conflict in label names that surfaced when the hit record appeared. The label was owned by Marc Gordon , a veteran in the music business who had worked for years at Motown, and distributed by Bell Records.. The label had a limited roster of artists signed to them, the most notable being Climax and Al Wilson, but they also released singles by the Grasshoppers, Viva, Holly Sherwood, Sugar, Johnny Stevenson, the Dream Machine, Sweet Grass, and Formula IV. Rocky Road lasted until 1975, when Climax disbanded.
Same here. Growing in that era was so much fun , and the from that era is just so good and superior to the stuff today. For me the greatest decades of music is the 60’s-80’s. 4-Sure.
Gracias a Dios crecí con esta música, fue una época inolvidable, esta melodía es un clásico del soul, llegó para quedarse en el tiempo, yo personalmente me deleito cada vez que la oigo.
Wow. This recording is great in quality, and this is one of the best songs E V E R and every microscopic detail was sung SO PERFECTLY by Al Wilson (RIP). This is perfection. Wilson's skill in every part of every syllable shows such remarkable care and talent. Wilson was masterful in inflection and even gestures. I can never listen to this song just once.
So many trips in the car and my mom& dad has this and all the coolest songs on the radio would play. Such memories! Even in my 50's, it's like yesterday.
Yes the days of the 70;s were marvelous''''. And children and young adults Respected their Adults' yep times have changed and no longer simple times.. everything is now computer generated and technology ''even sound is digital .horrible. Smh
This song was originally offered to Gary Puckett and the Union Gap. Unfortunately for them, they turned down what probably would have been their biggest hit. Al Wilson nailed this song!!!!
EPIC!!! Truly the best time ever and I was just a kid at the time, but love was love 🙌😎 we may never live this era again but I’ll never stop playing this music, EVER!!! 🥺
Al worked very diligently to get as far as he did in Pop music, it should have been even bigger than it was. Post- "Show and Tell" he hooked up with Marvin Gaye during the "Got to Give it Up" tour. Al was the 2nd most recognizable male back ground singer Marv ever worked with (aside from Freddie Gorman). Very dynamic persona, every girl was grabbing for him onstage during the shows. The fervor he created reminded me of Chuck Jackson with Eddie Kendrick's onstage posing. Just one of those southern artists who toiled quietly to emerge into such a powerhouse. Al is one artist I could listen to all day, everyday, never be another.
Simply Splendid fortunate to hear this waking up this morning from my alarm radio of Philly PA radio station, I jumped out of bed in the BEST mood !! Thank You !! ❤😎👀🕺🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹AND, just LUV Soul Train !!
This song covers every base in young love for my time. When this song came on at a dance you felt like that’s you wanting to say it to your girlfriend. Never could forget those days they were the best ❤
I never understood WHY all of the performers on Soul Train & Band Stand were made to lip sync to back tracks, we would've had an entire history of great live performances.
(2) things make a great song: Great lyrics and a song that gets people moving whether it's dancing as seen in the video or clapping hands/air guitar /drums. Great song! Gets me grooving every time I hear it.
