SHARP, SHARP, SHARP!!!!! The dancers and flag team were elegant and gorgeous! Every student and graduate of a HBCU should be proud…this Howard Bison for damn sure is!! EXCEPTIONAL job Alabama A&M and thank you for representing!
I watched on TV this morning and didn't get this full version. But what they showed on NBC made the band look great 👍🏾. You represent the black college bands well. Congrats again Alabama A &M. And to be the lead band what an honor!!
As an alum of Alabama A&M University, as well as an alum member of the Marching Maroon and White band, I am so proud of these young ladies and gentlemen. Awesome job, you all represented the University and the state of Alabama well. Thank you @Smashtime for you awesome footage. MMW 1X
Wow!!! What an opening by the Alabama A & M University Band!!! Would hate to follow that act. Cool hip hop rendition of The Dancing Sugar Plume Ferries!
Thank you, Smash Productions, for showing this great opportunity for Alabama A&M University and all HBCUs. To the Marching Maroon and White, we, A&MU Alumni, are so proud of you and your performance. It was top of the line. Alabama A&M University/HBCU STRONG FOREVER❤! WE LOVE YOU, GUYS😍!!!
Amazing band! Professional and entertaining. The tv version of the parade showed a limited version of this versatile band. Loved this extended capture of this magnificent band.
Alabama.. AAMU just showed up and showed out. One of The BEST HBCU Band ever! What an Amazing Macy's Parade 2023 opening. They showed the colonizers the hurt and pain that was set upon the Native Americans. Backstabbers, the song just set it off. Very talented young adults. Yesss! We are one of the best HBCU in the country. Never stop learning baby girls and baby boys. From the South and literary showed out in the North. The Divas ain't no joke. So we say... Happy Recognition Day to our Native Americans brothers and sisters in remembrance. A message in the music and do not forget it, that centuries ago the messages were in the music (drums). BEAUTIFUL, WELL RESP ECTED. ❤
So extremely proud of these HBCU students! Class, showmanship, elegance, grace and excellence! You did your HBCU family proud! #hbcugrad #hbcufam #gramblingstate
Yes Divas! I would of braved the cold to see y'all in person if I knew you were in NYC😩. Y'all were amazing 💖HBCU bands always bring the entertainment and fire🔥
This was an Amazing Video Capture!!🙌🏽🤗🥳🥳🥳💕👌🏽 I appreciate all of this effort for this video. When you go to a parade, you want to see our mainstream HBCU band, but, depending on where you are standing; you only are able to see just a portion of their show. I really enjoyed seeing their Entire Parade program. It was so Beautiful, fun, Classy, melodies were on point. Beautiful outfits, loved the fur hats for the ladies. The musicians and directors were immaculate looking. Very nice & on Beat! Love it! The public loved it! 🥰 Congratulations to the person who captured this video and to those participating. This was hard work. They Smashed it! 😀😁🙌🏽🥳 Well Done. All of you, should be proud. Thank you. Happy Holidays & Positive Vibes with Blessings to all of you 👌🏽🤗💕
Thanks so much for this video. I looked for this on CBS and no sight of this excellent band. Mostly just balloons and character floats. Thanks for REPRESENTING Alabama A&M and making us PROUD!!
DAMN PROUD to be from Warrior, ALABAMA! Great Job A&M! OUTSTANDING!!! Damn! y'all left a MARK! Beautiful and well-coordinated representation of a GREAT STATE!
I missed this because I was on a cruise, I love seeing my beloved AAMU and to see them lead the Macy's parade a proud moment for all HBCUs and a long time coming.
Excellent footage!! You captured EVERYTHING!! Front to back of the band! Omg I can’t imagine marching in cold weather like that, I know they had to be thirsty at some point!
Interesting how they opened with "backstabbers" to remind everyone of the colonizers who backstabbed the native Americans after feasting with them. Very clever, AAMU!
They were awesome; some of those ladies probably will be sick in that cold weather with not much on. They looked really nice but they should have chose them something warmer to wear
This Band has some flaws in comparison to Bands in Norfolk-Portsmouth-Hampton-Elizabeth City areas. Not one Majorette carrying a baton nor twirling a baton. Too many Drum Majors with the Head Drum Major constantly having to tell the other Drum Majors their routines. The Head Drum Major should lead with their routine with the other Drum Majors following doing the routine. Now the sound of the Band was very good. The stepping and straight line formation of the Band was good. They do need to snap the formation of their making a left arm wing as they prepare to draw their instruments to their mouths to play. To compliment doubly on their great sound. Flag Girls we’re good.
@@Eenke82 Bands Are about 100% Precision. Music Wise this Band is good. Yes I see some things different. What do you call the ladies coming after the Drum Majors? Not Majorettes? I guess you call them Strollers. I did have to chuckle. Since I never learned to twirl a baton I couldn’t be a Majorette. But I think I could handle Strolling. A very interesting creative Stroll. The Drum Majors were twirling their Batons very acrobatically. Very nicely though. But you are correct. This many Drum Majors is different. Please tell me how the Strollers are classified? The ladies were synchronized and the Head Stroller only needed to perform the routine with the other Creative Strollers then performing her routine. I definitely liked this known method rather than the verbalized method used by the Head Drum Major. But in closing; You are on point. Different can certainly be good. Just, please tell me the proper name for the Strollers? Dancers? The title Majorette by definition requires baton twirling. But maybe because of the cold weather the Band Leader decided to embrace Strolling. I know. The Strollettes or The Creative Dancerettes. Their outfits with the matching gloves - Very Nice but you know the imaginary humming of the song “Just let me entertain you” may be too up close and suggestive without those batons. The Drum Major outfits - On point. The Marching Band outfits - On Point - Precision Performance - Because of their Musical Sound - Awesome
@@brilliantdiva5068 I understand where you are coming from. First a bit of background the band in question did have majorettes as you have described about 20 years ago. They for some reason decided to replace their majorettes with what i believe are called Dancers. The ladies in the video are called the Dancin' Divas. I do not fully understand the difference between majorettes and dance teams other than the fact that dance teams do not twirl batons. This particular band is located in Alabama and from what i can tell most HBCU bands in the state are similar. Alabama state University one of their rival schools has two dance teams instead of one. From what i have observed many HBCU bands in Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and Florida have moved on from baton twirling majorettes in preference of dance teams. As for the drum majors and their number i do not know.
You have not apparently been able to see many bands from the South. Tradition with majorettes and twirlers changed decades ago! They have upgraded I call it, so not a FLAW. It's different. We like it! You should check out other HBCUs from the South. They are called dancers.
I empathize with your statement because my mother's generation and many other women often asked why today's majorettes don't twirl batons anymore. To be honest I remember dancers and twirlers but not many are twirling these days "that I know of" All in all Alabama A&M did an Amazing performance.@@brilliantdiva5068
