Marzen just means March. Oktoberfest biers were originally brewed in March because it was illegal to brew during the summer months. So the March beers lagered over the summer and were served in September/October as the fall beers weren’t ready yet.
Nice review of mostly domestic beers. I drink mostly Yuengling as they are my favorite and their version of Oktoberfest is my absolute favorite and its one of their seasonal beers from Aug-Oct and well worth the wait. I usually go through three 1/4 kegs when its in production. Sam Adams makes a really good Oktoberfest too. Great review!
Look for Spaten Oktoberfest. It’s excellent as well. I wait every summer for this type to come out. Sam is different each year some are good some not so good. Thanks for the reviews
I definitely think Paulaner oktoberfest bier is the best. Its clean, crisp and very refreshing. Definitely an all day beer. But pretty pricey as its an import from Germany
What the shirt says ain't wrong. But the Germans would be appalled saying these are October Fest beers at least the American brands. Thanks for the Boss Rated Red. Fun as always.
This video is funny because I drink a lot of beers and enjoy all kinds of IPAs unlike the Boss and German beers are always the ones that I say taste the best. They really are in a class of their own IMO. I knew that the Ayinger would be his pick because it's so damn tasty. Get Paulaner this year it is actually served in the tents at Oktoberfest unlike Ayinger.
I still enjoy it because it introduced me to marzen beer but there are so many to try now. Almanac rocktoberfest or crown and hops dopetoberfest here in California are ones I recommend.
hey guys, "Juengling" doesn't mean "jingling", like a Chinese beer. The correct spelling would be "jüngling". That comes from "jung" like "junge" (man) or "jung" (young). The "ling" is used in German as an extension to describe something small. So put together it describes a young guy. 🍻 Prost
Yall should do an ACTUAL Oktoberfest review. It would be cool. Oktoberfest originates in Munich and I want to say thier are only 6 breweries that, by a German law from like 1140AD, can produce beer from there. Something like 25 million people visit Munich each year for the festival. It is like the largest annual festival in Europe.
Festbiers and Marzens, While both are Oktoberfest they are technically two different styles. Marzens are a bit more on the malty side and will have a more amber color. Festbiers are going to be more light and crisp. Festbiers are more like the beers that are drank in Germany during Oktoberfest.
I was hoping that someone would point out that they are 2 distinctly different beer styles. That's why the Sierra Nevada Festbier is different from the rest of them. Give them props for labelling it clearly.
Sierra Nevada Oktoberfest beer taste nothing like the style it’s creamy but it’s still good. Sam Adam’s one is just ok and shiner bock is better. It’s funny that he always tends to like the worst beer of the bunch 😂
They are no real Oktoberfestbier, because only 6 breweries from Munich are allowed to participate at Oktoberfest. Also real Oktoberfestbier has more ABV...
