Lyrics:
We like our beer flat as can be
We like our dogs with mustard and relish
We got a great pitcher what's his name
Well we can't even spell it
We don't worry about the pennant much
We just like to see the boys hit it deep
There's nothing like the view from the cheap seats

As a Japanese, I think this song is all baseball fan’s anthem. I love baseball. I love Alabama.

This is one of those instant classic songs. I take my family to at least one Minor League baseball game a year and I play this song on the way to the ball park every time. It's definitely a baseball fan's anthem.

I feel old. I was 13 when this was filmed at a minor league stadium in Chattanooga in the fall of ‘93. My friends parents knew one of the producers of the video so we got to drive up from Atlanta and sit in the audience for a number of the baseball scenes. I’m 41 now. Time flies. Great song and fun times.

I can't speak for other fan bases, as I don't follow other sports, but baseball is great because for 162 games, it turns us all into kids again. My friends and I, for example, we still collect baseball cards, still watch the games, still wear the gear, PROUDLY. We're in our 40s and 50s. That part hurt to type. Call it arrested cognitive development if you want, but, I call it love and knowing what's important. I call it loyalty.

The song represents everything I love about Southern culture. It totally rejects one-upmanship elitist snobbery. In the song, the singer admits that the team, seats, town, beer and band are all mediocre, but they enjoy it anyway. It celebrates the pleasure contentment can bring.

I got married about 10 pm on August 30, 1973, afterwards, my new husband, our best man and matron of honor went for drinks at the Ramada Inn, where a band nobody ever heard of was playing. The sign out front said "Wild Country". The group inside was playing their hearts out...and very few were dancing. Me and my little group were busy trying to get just drunk enough to feel celebratory, but not too drunk to drive home (very fine line there). It wasn't until about 10 years later that I realized who the group playing that night were......And I kick myself now for not paying closer attention to the band.

Chattanooga Lookouts. I took the family to one game there in the late 1990's. I don't remember much about the game itself, but the general aura was great, just like Alabama sings in this song. I'm pretty sure a lot of this was filmed at the old stadium, due to the uniforms, the seats, and that little hill in the outfield. Alabama is way underrated as one of the great country bands. I like just about every song they play.
