Hmmm......Based on Celeste's reaction to O-15.....I bought one, planted it in the fall of 2020, and could barely wait for it to fruit. In the winter of 2021/22, it was killed by the subfreezing temperature, as were many trees I planted. Based on Celeste's reaction, I'm tempted to replace it with an Alampur Beneshan. Personally, I love strongly piney/resinous mangoes so maybe the killer freeze was mixed blessing.
This mango may well be an IMAM PASAND. I'm enjoying this cultivar since 2005.The Alampur Baneshan I had in India flesh of which was deep yellow to orange. Skin remains green to light green though. There is no Alampur Baneshan tree in continental USA to the best of my knowledge. Anyways, Imam PASAND is also loved by many mango connoisseurs around the World.
A friend here that specializes in mango growing here in Phx has had this Indian tree variety since ~2018 I think. He is now in FLA this week...will ask him about it when he returns.
@@jeff6899 so good that I want to plant a third tree. So far, I’m being outvoted. Too many other varieties we want to plant that we don’t have in the ground yet.
@@SulcataGrove I get it !!! Great video, though...I have nearly 600 plants--Plus 7 raised beds--on my nearly 1/2 acre, 24.5 Yr old award-winning garden in Tempe, AZ ! My 1st love is area native plants (a few do fruit !) But I was in the Arizona Rare Fruit Growers for many yrs. I once had 6 or 7 mango trees (al diferent varieties--they take space; harder to grow here overall)...went down to one...now back up to 3...and I want MORE !! So getting the itch again...after a few yrs...You need slow release sulfure here to help keep them going for many yrs
Celeste I’m glad you got a good one. We bought one from Stanley’s on pine island and ours was picked wrong. Glad you said your was good. Ours wasn’t sweet at all!
This one was from Fruitscapes, sorry if I said the wrong place in the video. I have been very selective in which mangos I have been buying this year - always choosing ones with some color break, not rock hard, but also with no wrinkling. So far, everything from Pine Island has been excellent. I had some mangos shipped from Stanley Mangos to my daughter - I will let you know how those end up being. I haven't received any kind of shipping confirmation and it has been a few days.
@@SulcataGrove Celeste our mallika mangos will be pick off the tree soon to ripen in the hot box (garage) and when Dave gets back on the the 15th, I will contact you to stop by to bring them down. I want to ripen the mangos to the ripeness we eat them and see if this mallika changes your thoughts on the mallika.
