Like Dennis Potter, Jack Rosenthal, Jimmy McGovern, and Lindsey Anderson, Nicolas Roeg, I have always considered Alan Clarke is more than warranted to be mentioned beside those other greats. The cream of the crop. Top of the pops. Great documentary, thanks for posting
I'm a big fan of Alan Clarke's work, although I haven't seen as much of it as I'd like. Some real gems on You Tube. Thanks a milion for posting the doc. Is that Danny Boyle narrating? Sounds like him
I don't like the narrator's style. He sounds like someone who, maybe because of the subject matter, is determined to prove his working class credentials by dropping letters and talking in a man-on-the-street kind of way. I misunderstood a couple of things and had to re-listen. For example, I wondered what was meant by "the cinema of Artaus legends," and thought perhaps Artaus was a director I'd not heard of. Only later did I realize he meant "Art House."
