I am a big band member in New Zealand. We all need to listen to this band for their sound. Nothing forced, everything is so musical. Saxes all sound great and the trombone section AMAZING. What about the drummer - so with the band, wonderful style. Inspiring -thanks you so much.Interesting thing there are Dutch musos in there -Lead trumpet, guitarist, & Peter Erskine (USA) to name a few with amazing German musos
WDR Big Band : playing Jazz with the precision of classical musicians and the freedom that Jazz requires. Always brilliant !;°) ... but hey ... Peter Erskine ?... this name reminds of the time i discovered an awkward fusion band specialized in meteorology ... aaah ! ... how time passes by ... these were the days ... ♥
Thank you, Cybio, - and this leads us to the assumption that time actually cannot exist...are we attentive, we can discover all the little wonders of this world, - are we not, - then...?
PETER PARA MI SIEMPRE FUE UN MONSTRUO Y ENCONTRARLO FUE UNA REVELACION Q SERIA EXTRAORDINARIO TODO LO Q HICIESE. MUY AGRADECIDO X COMPARTIRLO. ME SIENTO MUY FELIZ.
This one is so totally on par with the Fred Hersch session and it is beyond my comprehension, why this one has not been released as CD like Fred's has? Their release policy is really weird. Karolina blows my mind (once again) on Spring, Again
With Peter Erskine you don't hear Mel Lewis,Buddy Rich,Jeff Hamilton,or Luigi Paulino Alfredo Francesco Antonio Balassoni who's stage name was Louie Bellson. You hear Erskine the innovator.
I saw Louie with the Daley/Wilson Big Band inSydney. With Buddy Rich Kenny Clare on the same concert in London and also doing a drum clinic in London. What a gentleman Louie was and is for eternity.
Drums could use much more high end...cymbal time is buried. Drums do NOT sound this muted when heard live. To mix a concert to resemble a live sound, drum volume have to be somewhat representative. Just sayin'
