Alan Wake 2 Wins Best Game Direction at The Game Awards 2023

@@ronmanvici8371 They actually wanted to make Alan Wake 2 ever since the release of the first game. Quantum Break and Control were originally concepts for Alan Wake 2.

Well deserved it was the only game that really did anything new this year. Lots of great games but none where as imaginative or different as this one in a triple a title.

@@awfulbalistick0228 Alan Wake 2, despite being nominated for Game of the Year at The Game Awards, did not make it to the top 150 games with the most active users in October 2023. That's when it was released. Most games go hard in the first week or two and fall off as people complete them. It's a niche game and definitely didn't win by user votes, but by internal panel they mentioned during the show.

I will never pirate any Remedy game or will never let anyone around me do it.

It makes me so sad people forgot about Quantum Break! It was so cool and deep story! Way more complex than Control! Time travels is so hard theme to tell and Sam made it perfectly without any paradox!

@lastbeer I loved Quantum Break, the only thing that brought it down was exiting out of the game to watch the mini movies. That was the game where Control got a lot of its base, but expanded on it. Quant Break on hard also had a really dumb unfair final boss that almost made me crai evertim Quantum Break 8 to 8.2 Control a 9.5 and maybe above

@@MrDumpitout i know right, those dang explosions that Paul uses took me like 5 deaths before I even realized what has happening, and that’s not even to mention that if you misuse your dashes to dodge an enemy before an explosion you just die. It was an awesome game though.

Not 75, 70 million dollars and that including marketing budget. The development cost was less than 50.

Not better than control imo, Alan Wake 2 has too many intermissions in-between gameplay. Great story but very boring at times

​@@LetYahArisee: "Great story but very boring" Dude comes to say this with straight face literally after Alan Wake 2 has just won Best Narrative & Best Game Direction & Best Art Direction awards, that is, the game has been recognized to have the best & the most innovative storytelling and game design of 2023 by the global game industry. I wish I had your self-esteem. For me, in horror games, the story > the action. I'm glad one of the biggest issues of Alan Wake part 1 was fixed in part 2: too much action. Action also effectively breaks the mood of psychological horror. You are not agonized when shooting around. The less is more. Also, Remedy intentionally chose survival horror instead of horror/action due to its slower pace, to be able to do their storytelling the way they wanted. However, Control is not horror but scifi/action and can not wait for part 2 (Alan Wake 2 DLC will probably be setting up Control 2 like Control AWE DLC set up Alan Wake 2). At least I doubt they'll switch to survival scifi. Too much survival or too much action is boring.

The rest of us may get spoiled already on Monday when we are blessed to replay the whole game after Final Draft and Nightmare mode come available with alternative ending

Take your time with Control, and don’t forget the DLCs, especially AWE. You’ll be rewarded once you get to AW2, it’s not going anywhere.

I'd say it's mine too, but to be fair it has a lot of problems

I absolutely love Alan Wake 2 man but Final Fantasy 16 is goddamn masterpiece in Music & Score. Even people who didn’t like the game will say that. So yeah the competition was tough. But it did win Best Direction, Best Art Direction & Best Narrative which were totally deserved
