I fully agree, Billy getting some much needed love shows us that devs are willing to focus on things that mean more health for the game itself and that is a significant need, especially for a game that is so expansive. I hope they keep making these changes even if we only got 2 chapters a year but they came with a polish on old content id be happy.

I really think if they can't get a major license for this years anniversary, they should make a major health update chapter for the few months post the next chapter until the late august chapter

If I could recall the developer have stated that there’s a separate team dedicated for reworks and feature updates that doesn’t interfere with the new content development. That’s why we don’t need a “operation health” updates.

They did a good job on Hillbilly but I am scared on the Twins. They don't need a rework they just need to be cleaned up of bugs

I really enjoy licensed content in DBD, but I think it's interesting that the past two licensed chapters were only one character, which has allowed the devs to focus more on balance. I wonder if that might be the best path to go with licensed content: stop bringing both a killer and a survivor and instead trade-off which side gets a new character to allow more time and energy for balance changes.

I'm perfectly fine with them adding only one character per chapter if they focus on the old content that needs to be looked at. We have so many killers and survivors we don't need too many more but we definitely need some perks and addons getting a rework like you said with Myers for example.

There’s only so much they can do with a single survivor especially a licensed one where it has to fit the character thematically meanwhile a rework that made a beloved character who was mid-low tier now a high tier character as well as replace the hated overheat mechanic with an extremely fun overdrive mechanic will always outshine almost anything added into the game. However I do agree that fixing/refining old content will also help immensely with the game’s longevity

You never fail to look on the bright side of things and I appreciate that. Older characters do deserve more time in the spotlight. As for Alan, it's great that he joined DBD so soon after his own sequel because now more people will be interested in his story. His perks are fitting but a bit uncreative, especially when compared to like Nick. Also, I think we need more recent licenses in the game. Everyone will always be expecting slashers and creatures from much older franchises, but content from the 2010s would be way more unexpected. The VVitch, It Follows, Malignant, etc. Considering Blumhouse is involved in the DBD movie, this is a strong possibility. Thank you so much for the video. ❤

The most important change since PTB is removing the momentum after bumping. On PTB he maintained very very slight movement speed and it felt really good. As an old time Hillbilly main that was actually the most satisfying thing about the entire update, making him from annoying to pleasant to practice. They not only removed this movement but *DECREASED* it since before, or at least changed the animation. Nonetheless bow you stand completely still and not gonna lie, that's discoyraging

The problem is the more content BHVR deliver to DbD the more possible bugs will be created. So I would like the idea of half the new character chapter, so every second chapter could be a Game Health Chapter (maybe with a Legendary Skin addition like Naughty Bear or something like this) 😅

I'm so glad I'm starting to hear more and more folks voicing the same thing! I'd been pleading on YT, reddit, my streams and on twitter (X), to have less focus on bringing in licenses and more on gameplay enhancements. Xeno and Chucky are awesome, happy for those who like Alan, but give me a new gameplay mode, tweaks to the gen tapping/kicking. Only thing that I kinda wish they did so we could see the numbers to it, would if they split the release of Alan and the killer reworks. I have a feeling the numbers would have shown more people coming for the Billy Rework (Maybe the Sadako rework) than Alan. Things like Lights Out mode, while basic addition, are for what I think the best foot forward for DBD going forward. Update the old mechanics/killers and bring in some fresh ideas! Anyway, Great video as always =)

I lost to a hillbilly yesterday I couldntve been happier about it

I’d be perfectly fine with them chilling on content for a good 3-6 months and just doing some serious work on improving the actual game itself. Namely a casual and ranked mode, killer bots for DC’s, and a removal of DC penalties. There’s also a bunch of survivor and killer perks that are borderline worthless, or never used, and could use improvements. And nerfing a few others in a way that’s reasonable. Ultimate Weapon comes to mind for a slight nerf, and so does Dead Hard for a slight buff (not much, relax). There’s also quite a few Killers in Hill Billy’s situation that could use some tweaking to make them fun to play against AND viable (God forbid we have both right?). This is what I would like personally. Because honestly the gameplay tweaks and killer reworks here, are the best thing that’s happened to game in AT LEAST the last 6 months, if not year.

I really really want them to make all survivors slightly different to play. Part of the reason I enjoy killer more is how many unique experiences it provides. Scare the shit out of them on Michael, curve around the map as hillbilly, hit skill shots on huntress, outplay them as trapper. I’m not saying give every survivor a unique power because that’s a LOT to add in retrospect but maybe if they had small differences it would be very appreciated. It also makes the game feel a little less rng for the killer side because you never really know what people are running from their character but you tend to have a good guess what killers are running in terms of add ons and perks upon seeing them.

As an upcoming singularity main and alien player, I don't see why dbd literally slows down the killer from playing the game, as singularity it takes longer for you to exit the pods when near a hooked survivor, and for alien you crawl out slower doing the same thing

100% agreed, and im only in my first proper year of playing DbD. If behavior puts more focus into the content we have, the game and player base would be healthier and happier. I honestly think that the mext majod tweak to the game would be defining causal and ranked game modes. With how every match goes towards your rank (outside of custome games), it makes the game quite sweaty and toxic, so introducing a causal game mode would be a great addition

The one problem with big reworks though is they run the risk of ruining what's already there. I've heard many many Survivors say they preferred old SM over new SM, because they hate the injures, hinder, broken etc. And many SM players who didn't 3 gen still liked the old version more, since she had ironically more skill expression then as she had to manage only 4 drones, she couldn't just throw them up at every single loop like she does now. A lot of people were worried when they heard the Hillbilly rework because there was a chance they would make him even worse. Small reworks like Billy's usually work great, but doing huge overhauls like Skull Merchant runs the risk of being way worse than before.

I have to agree I hope they just focus more on updating and refining older content instead of new content I know it’s doesn’t make them money but cosmetics are still being made so they can still get paid I feel like the game could be in a much better place if they focused on fixing the problem we have instead of new content at less until we’re at a better place

Billy is so good I can now listen to Overdrive by Taku Iwasaki while playing him and have so much fun, best killer in DBD fun-wise now.

A little disappointing with Alans perks, they could have been more creative or a little stronger but the legendary skin is very cool and the minor tweaks like FOV slider and billy changes are really good.

Maybe i'll be able to agree with this the moment i get a game with this reworked billy in which he doesn't Dash from halfway across the map, Downs me and then proceeds to proxy camp me until i'm dead on hook every single time 💀 New billy seems fun to play but so far it's not very fun to go against

I think that at least once a year, instead of a chapter they should just add/chance everything else. We have a tonne of characters now and I think we’ve reached a point where new perks or powers feel kinda bland. What with all the haste perks and so many killers either having a speedy power or teleport power. So maybe slowing down content for new stuff is the way to go. Plus it would give bhvr more time for new stuff like game modes

If they do start focusing on reworking old content, I’d really like for them to take looks at all of the old killers (Trapper, Wraith, Nightmare) as well as some of the newer killers like Knight and Legion who all feel very unfun and boring to play as and don’t seem to be able to keep up with all of the new metas that’s been brought into the game. Don’t get me wrong, I love new content. I love playing as Chucky, I even love Skull merchant (crucify me if you must) but players aren’t going to feel satisfied if BHVR only makes new content just to leave old content in the corner gathering dust. Trapper is literally their poster boy and the best change he’s had is adding some haste effect when setting his traps 💀

BHVR will never do that because their main source of income is new content, reworking the onryo is done for free while releasing chucky makes them money, and one thing I have learned over the years is that you can’t change corporate’s mind, they will always want more money so yeah, highly unlikely they will revisit more legacy content.

I haven't played this game in forever. I played it all the time when it was first released. I was good at surviving, turning generators on. I just couldn't keep up with the skill level of the other players and they seem to he the most toxic. If you are that great why not offer tips and help? Why trash people that are either starting out or have peaked at the moment and could use tips. I suck at being a killer. I suck at looping. But if someone distracted I was good at staying alive while turning on the generators. Just never understood why people feel the need to be so toxic. Was life that hard on them growing up that they feel the need to take it out on people that work and have a social life ajd a family and can only put maybe 2 hours a day on it?? I'm not trying to say they are losers. Just IMO someone being a toxic douchebag just because they have no life, no job, no friends IRL and no love life is pretty pathetic and I guarantee they are cowards who tuck their tail and bow down to confrontation IRL.. maybe I'm just weird. Any game that I'm very great at I'll give help and tips if they ask because what reason would you not would you not. Anyone understand the reasoning behind it? Scared of competition?? Nobody wants to hear it, but the constant push for more cosmetics, more characters, more more more, needs to stop. BHVR needs to stop being greedy, address their horrid monetization, fix actual issues and bugs in the game, and give characters changes they need. We don't need more slop, we need the health of the game to actually improve instead of BHVR constantly taking one step forward and three steps back.

Meh. This patch kind of sucked. It's really overhyped. Alan Wake is okay but unremarkable. Perks are decent. Billy ended up way overtuned. Sure he needed a buff before, but now he just utterly destroys games like Blight does. He went from low C tier to S tier. Billy mains used to be fun and chill, now they're as sweaty as Blights. Blight: is pretty much as overpowered as ever. Was S-tier, needed a nerf, didn't get one. Onryo: Nerfed into the ground. Had some interesting ideas like locking in condemn only to backtrack on it and make it nearly useless. Meta: with Grim embrace's rework we're now in the hook + regression meta, which heavily favors characters that get fast hooks, turning killer-advantage games into a total slaughter and screwing over weaker killers that take longer to hook. Gen kick was far better, since at least it was a choice killer had to make.

The way you are still trying to say the skull merchant reworks are impressive took me out though. Like you must be trolling. She is literally still garbage and trash to play against and play as in every way possible
