He looks like a friendly wizard offering gentle guidance to lost travelers. What a marvelous time we live in that we can hear such lovely teachings even from beyond the veil of death. He was Brahman singing a song to itself, and now the song echoes in our thoughts and machines.
He does look like he has a wild side too. Like he could switch on you at a moments notice.. The joker. The thief. The zen master himself..his body of work is greatly appreciated but this seeker.
I had only been exposed to his work in all those edited music videos on youtube but hearing the words spoken without the editing and seeing him is life changing. I want to know more. I want to learn more. I feel like there is a future for me because of this.
The story called "Siddhartha" by Hermann Hesse brought great insight and awareness for me, I read it countless tines because of the beauty in the story but also in trying to understand its message. I hope you enjoy it and get something special from it as well.

Hearing Alan watts without all the additional music and edits to try and portray inspiration, really helps bring about an actual understanding and inspiration from his words. When one tries to least to convey his message, his effortlessness is what is truly inspiring
I would say the opposite. If you write down everything he is saying, you’ll see he rambles and goes round in circles. In snippets he sounds much better.
@@olivercox2565 well obviously, because he is trying to make a point. The fact that he could encircle this whole 50 minute monologue and connect seemingly parallel thoughts is truly inspiring.
Classic example of someone sounding wise while making meaningless statements. Obviously how we define events constructs them. But there are no separate events? Well yes in some technical sense, but to build an argument against the flow of time from basic lingustic contraints is laughable. We do not need the idea of causality to explain an event? All events are really one event? Again, he's confusing the physics of the situation with the mind's picture of the situation. If you read the comments here its more of a display of disciples than well-reasoned invidiuals. It frustates me how many people fall for this crap. Most of what he is saying is inside introductory psychology text books but presented by him as some mystical transcendence ...
Here is another great fantasy. Imagine that there are millions of universes in our body. Imagine that the universe we can observe is actually a microbe on another being. @@avalanche9026 I'm thinking of all the past as being in the now moment. It's a bit tricky, but the idea is that all the past is compressed as timeless information in the present moment. Compare with for example a RU-vid video, it exists as timeless information stored in data centers.
The funny thing about listening to this video instead of watching it in full is that you start the video, then come back to it 30 minutes later after listening to it, and ask yourself “wait, why did Alan take his shirt off??” 😂
This man is amazing. Ive always believed in the idea of the fractal universe and found so many confirmations of it for myself in so many examples of things, concepts, events, etc, etc. But the connections he makes are just on another level. Like if you were to as a child look at yourself as a grownup, its just that impressive.
I used to listen to Alan Watts for a long time then I got burned out but recently I've been listening again. What I can compare them to is like listening to a wise uncle speak about the nature of life. They are very calming and insightful.

Pain and suffering are the teacher to guide you to the light. But there is no big scary devil. Just in conditional love, you are guided and protected literally every moment of every day
I love coming across actual video of Alan Watts bc most of the stuff I click on of his are just the audio recordings of lectures, which are still very good but seeing the man on screen is way more powerful.
I would have followed him wherever he went. Even if he'd have shunned my presence, I'd have yielded to his right to do so , and made sure he never knew , subsequently, I was just out of his sensory reach , because I don't think id have been able to disengage ever. As he wasn't able to disengage from speaking so propheticly prolific in profound parables. I'd have been joyfully dizzy in my nonstop epiphanies rooted in his everyday knowledge drops
Idk what to even say. I'm not a spiritual person. At least I don't think so. I'm introverted and have no friends and family.....well I have my beastfriend/cat/roommate Tosh @akito7025 ...I'd love some kinda spiritual companion. Or anyone lol. Likely Kidney cancer and financial issues are really getting worse and im having horrible things go through my mind. I'd never cause anyone else trouble or stress on purpose ..hell just the idea of leaving Tosh all locked up in here with my body and being all confused why I wasn't getting up to talk with her makes me fkn start crying....although lately I been leaving her food bin ajar and leaving more than the one bowl of water...idk man...If Mr Watts is around...I sure hope he knows I don't WANT to be this way and I'd appreciate some help a little more potent than prolific and insightful words lol

Planet îs a jewish word for star. There are 7 main elemente în the Sky, the 5 wandering stars aka planets, the Sun and the Moon. And we get to observe it from Earth, which îs not a star.
Look into Zen or Non dual teachings. There is no time, there is no space. Just our direct experience. You are not the body or mind. You are observing the body and the mind. There is no self, you are points of attention and energy living on schoolroom earth.
Quantum mechanics is just humans being arrogant enough to believe that the people of the past couldn't possibly understand like they could. So it's essentially an incredulous reinventing the wheel at the belief that no one else could have conceived it. But if you look at old doctrine and really strive to understand, you'll see that quantum mechanics is not new and the fact that some people have gone deeper than what the general public perceives as the epitome of science.
And to correct my comment, what I mean is that the principles that are layed out by QM are pointing to something fundamental about the way the universe works. So it's not that the ancients knew about quantum mechanics, but they were able to penetrate layers of reality through secret doctrine in order to see the underlying substance of things
