This song captures my wife and I. She died 6 months ago. Our relationship started in our 20's on Ashbury St. Empathy disscribes our journey together! Empathy brought me out of my grief and into enlightenment!

I absolutely love this woman. Her music. Her heart felt lyrics. Her femininity and sensuality. Her warmth and spirituality. Her honesty!

Alanis Morissette’s album “Havoc and Bright Lights” (2012) was her first after she gave birth to her first child. Motherhood is a major theme, but the tunes she authored for the record explore other elements of her new life. She explained : “The form [of the album] is the motherhood, but the essence of it really is a deepening of intimacy and a deepening of commitment, and therefore there being a lot of healing. I’m healing a lot of wounds from my childhood, and so is my husband, and… that healing definitely shows up in songs like ‘Empathy’ and ‘Lens,’ the whole idea of fostering connection, that horrible feeling of disconnection from God or each other or our own selves. It’s a very hollow, piercing, terrible feeling.” 💜🎼🩷

I am so thankful I was born in this lifetime, being able to witness such great music from a great artist like Alanis.
