... That chord change before "It's too much to ask for, and I ... am not the Doctor" still gives me that small jolt down my spine. This is a great, great song.
I absolutely love it when she gets the the first "open the window". It sends shivers down my spine and makes me happy, its kinda like a nice shot of morphene in a bleak and dark place
This song reminds me of my bipolar ex husband a.dentist.I married my actual doctor at the time [my obgyn:)this song came out.I can relate to these words that's what it is like to be married to someone who's abusive n constantly needs you to wear yourself out catering to there every need. I'm happily married now though!!!
I'm confused was your ex husband a dentist or obgyn. So sorry you went through that! I am a survivor as well my ex husband was a firefighter/paramedic and very abusive as well. Stay strong
Siempre digo que el Jagged Little Pill es uno de los mejores discos de la historia... Por el sonido y por todo, y eso que no soy tan fanático de Alanis pero me encanta su voz.
I like this version...this would later be almost the same sound she used on JLP Acoustic! An Amazing version...when I seen her 4 times in concert...she didn't do this song this way :(
What an amazing performance! Given the fact that she messed up the lyrics, she managed to perform so intesely and authentically the whole song! Alanis Morissette's name would be written with golden letters in the history of the 90s rock and alternative wave. Such an amazing lady - so true, so talanted, such presence!
@dilyanam So Amazing is also the fact...that Lyrics are created by the writer...and as it is her song...she could interpret it differently every time and it would still be HER song and hers to determine if it is correct or not. Ive seen some who change lyrics to fit present interpretations.....must one even comment on something like that by such a wonderful performance?
This version is oo deep n strong... even the calbum version is harder...but it doesn't show how sad can be this song... this perfomence shows it as sad as the lyrics mean.
this is one of my favs from JLP and i love this version too. And people, IT'S HER SONG;she can do a little ad lib with the words if she wants;doesn't mean she messed up.Though I love her vocals, it's the lyrics that really drew me to this song;this is really brilliant stuff. Does anyone know what it's about? My theory is that she's in a relationship with someone who's clingy & demanding, but I'm not sure. if anyone knows what it's about, or has their own take on it, shoot me a reply.
To be honest, the JLP version of this song is really boring and one of my least favorite Alanis songs. But this version... WOW! I've watched this video no less than 50 times and I'm still floored every time I hear it. Unbelievable. This is a true artist.
this was my favorite band....but I also love Taylor, he was definitely a character. I think I'd keep Joel Shearer and drop Gary Novax (sp?) and keep Taylor. Mind you, I think Gary is an excellent drummer.
Yes she did mess up her lyrics, but think how long ago she wrote this song? She was what? 19?? How long it's been since she has performed it? I mean it's not like it was a major hit like "Ironic" or "U Oughta Know". Give her a break. It's not like she butchered "Underneath" or "Not As We".
