Today we're Ice Climbing on Exit Glacier just outside of Seward, Alaska. Thrilling, Exciting and Amazing don't even begin to explain the impact this excursion made on us. Wrap that up with the gut wrenching "lost video footage" and we've got one helluva story. I hope you still enjoy it even though it's not as perfect as I wanted it to be.

My friends & I did some crazy stuff on Mendenhall Glacier 30 years ago, tubing down some steep slopes. There's NO WAY I'd go down into a crevasse! Your video made me nauseous when you were looking down. Ugh. Glad you had knowledgeable guides & lots of safety gear. That's an experience you'll never forget. I'm sure every muscle in your body ached the next day. Great video!

You guys are FEARLESS!!!! Wow! Even though I knew everyone was okay, I was holding my breath watch you on the side of the glacier. I would have been in tears just like your aunt when I returned to a flat surface. Okay, I just told a big lie. I don't think I would have had the courage to leave a flat surface. The footage you saved was awesome. The memories and stories you will be able to tell your grandchildren some day. Every time a coworker wonders why I love RVing so much I just send them the link to the GoneWiththeWynns RU-vid channel. What an amazing adventure and thanks for sharing your fearless journey.

WOW, amazing adventure. We're planning on doing this when we get to Alaska. Thanks for sharing. By the way, the video turned out great despite your footage loss! We'll subscribe and keep up with your adventures!

The Harding Ice Fields are pretty awesome to see...we trekked to the top of the mountain saw bear, Mount sheep, goats...really the best hike ever. Lived in Alaska 16 years.

Man, that's gorgeous! I have overwritten footage accidentally SO MANY TIMES! I need a better system. I'd love a video of how you keep track of all your media. The video turned out just fine, but what a bummer to miss your Aunt's moment. I can totally relate to the added work of filming an experience and how it takes a little bit away from the experience. Thank you for filming and sharing your adventures with us! Good to know about Sony's naming system too. My new Sony should be here early next week, and I'm used to GoPro and Panasonic's file system, where they never use the same number twice (unless you want to dig deep in the settings and totally reset it on the camera).

insight: (my wife and I are watching these totally out of order for the most part)....but we are jonesing for some of dat Alaska! I mentioned this before, watching other vids to prepare for our own adventures etc.....obviously nothing compares to the real deal but you 2 are the only ones that make us really feel we are truly experiencing it right along with you. Very very awesome! As always, keep being you. Much thx.

if you are jonesing for alaska checkout Dudelikehella hes a california vlogger who moved up here and shares his experience..im thinking i need to do a real alaskan vlog cause people need the real story on Alaska not some out of staters perspective..we do a lot of different things that the tourists dont know about..we have our own gear so we dont hire guides to do this stuff.. alaskans are for the most part gear junkies with a different style than these vloggers who are more or less tourists..

Going back through these older videos, and I realized how you guys used the same background music more than once. There's something warmly familiar about that, almost like there's a GwtW soundtrack. Love it.

I have a similar terrible experience to help you guys not feel so bad. When I got married we took a lot of pictures. Then I asked my mom to hold the camera and take some shots of men my wife. She must've not known what she was doing and pressing the wrong buttons and the camera must of asked do you want to delete these files yes or no? Mom thought she was still taking a picture and press the enter button and deleted all the wedding pictures. Fortunately my aunt took pictures of the ceremony but she holds her camera somewhat sideways. Needless to say I feel your pain as well. I give you guys credit for being professional and running 3 cameras. Sometimes it's a hassle trying to enjoy your vacation and film it at the same time

BTW you are not alone. I have been involved in sport fishing and photography my entire adult life. Years ago I finally convinced my wife to go on a tag and release Mako shark trip. She hooked a giant and fought it hard all the while I photographed with an empty camera. Film didn't go on the take up spool and being excited in the moment I didn't check until the fish was released. It happens

WOW!! That was really cool! I did go repelling once years ago but it was NOTHING like that! That had to be a huge adrenaline rush. Just the fact that it's ice... one slip and you plummet to your death... LOL Thanks for the adventure. The lost footage is a bummer but you're right, it made for a great headline!!! Glad you're safe!!!

This looked crazy amazing!!! Not to be rude or come off nosey but how much did it cost to take that tour? I have a family of four and would love to add this to a bucket list! And is there an age limit?! Thanks!! I really love your lifestyle! My family and I are thinking of trying this one day but are very scared of how we would pay the bills and afford trips/adventures like this one! Good Luck on everything!!

+Sharon Chavis Merritt I can't remember the cost, it was pricey but not crazy! They said they've had younger kids before but they must "vet" them first to make sure they are capable.

I had a similar experience taking bison pictures 3 weeks ago in the fact of taking over a 100 pictures of a small guy looking & interacting with me. I later I found out I did not have a card in my new camera. I talked to myself all the way from Cheyenne, WY back to Fort Collins, CO. I changed the settings so it would not happen again!!!!!

There's no evidence that global warming is increasing the speed of this glacier's melt. You can see the signs in the park going back 150 years and it has been melting rapidly all this time, long before cars and modern industry. Of course it has been melting *since the last ice age* and this has nothing to do with humans. Thanks for the cool video and glad you stayed safe!

Cute video. Just as a heads up though, a lot of people will think much worse than lost footage when you put "tragic mistake" next to "ice climbing". Maybe "unfortunate mishap" would be better. :) I'm sorry you lost your footage. I'm glad no one died.
